What a weekend that was, the punters favourites were going down left, right and centre and it was a sandy day at the Gold Coast track too. We move from that bog fest back to the lightly sprinkled Doomben. We have soft 7 track with the rail out ten and a half metres and the first race to jump at 1.03pm.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1110M)
Sticking clear of the second starters maiden. Real Rush is one we liked we liked last start but steering clear after the booking.
Race 2: Benchmark 65 (1660M)
Sacred Feeling, moral.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)
First starter fest again, here we go, pass.
Race 4: MAIDEN (1200M)
Well we like Sacred Feeling in the second race and Russian Mystic draws well here and comes through that form race so keen to be with him here over the short priced favourite. He goes really well at Doomben and he should be really close in the run to jump on them late.
Race 5: MAIDEN (1660M)
Interesting race here with Waller leading the charge with three runners. Discover comes in as favourite but the horse has been up a long time and at the short quote I am just not sure. Happy to play outside the favourites here and go with Smokin’ De Quo here coming through a run at Dalby where she just couldn’t get clear air. First go out to this trip but from a middle ally she can be handy and get the services of the in form Bailey Wheeler.
Race 6: MAIDEN (1200M)
Another juicy maiden, no firm opinions here to staying out again.
Race 7: Class 2 (1350M)
Keen to play Quadri here at a bit of a price. First up she was ok but on the rail and didn’t really get clear air and also threw her head about the whole race. From barrier four she should be able to camp just on the speed and with solid second up statistics and a great record over the trip she looks over here.
Race 8: Benchmark 70 (1200M)
Typhoon Tavi comes back here for the second preparation for Gollan and if Angela Jones can ping the lids and cross them early here then this could over really quickly. But if for some reason En Pointe and Kat Chinna really make a race of it up front then Island Magic looks the one to be rolling over the top. Happy to play both to end the day here.
