Ipswich | August 19

The midweek racing returns back to Ipswich and we have the classic shortened card. We will be racing on a good 4 track with the rail out four metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 1.08pm.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1680M)

Well feels like Moscow Mule has been going around for a while but its only start number four today. He doesn’t love to go forward in running so with the rail out four metres it could be a slight query. He should just be winning here but the short quote at Ipswich for a horse that gets back is always a risk.

Race 2: MAIDEN (1350M)

This is an interesting race a few in the market come through the Dragon Magic race. I am however happy to be with Ted Lasso here. Didn’t really get wound up at all late and was a nice push for third in that same race, and that was after a bumping duel halfway up the straight.

Race 3: Benchmark 70 (2170M)

Keep this race very very simple. The rail is not out far, and I Am The Empire yes is carrying weight but should lead on its ear. Osmond should be able to control this out in front and if he gives a kick at the top of the straight they won’t catch him in the final three hundred metres.

Race 4: MAIDEN (1100M)

You would have to think the early money for the for the Lees runner Fracus is the play but happy to stay out of this race.

Race 5: Class 1 (1350M)

Leaning the way of Rochedale Hero here. The Bruce stable is airborne and he will be improving second up and from the draw just gets the run of the race. Pace is drawn outside so he will need to push up and hold a spot and has won at the track prior.

Race 6: Class 1 (1350M)

The mare Ready for Aimee was in races albeit a fair way behind Grinzinger Champ. That form is stacking up in Saturday class and this mare comes to Ipswich on a Wednesday. She has been tuned up with a trial and with Bella in form from a low draw she will be hard to hold out.

Race 7: Class 2 (1680M)

The favourite here in Precise Star has carried weight in both wins this time and the last over the 1400M looked more to his liking. From the barrier it could be a little sticky but there doesn’t look like a whole lot of tempo in this race. He should sit on pace or just behind them and I think the trip will suit as will the tight turning track at Ipswich.
