The weather is deadest freezing for Brisbane and headquarters gets the mid-week racing this week. We have nine race card will be racing on a soft 5 track with the rail out twelve metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 11.57am.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1200M)

The unraced two year old maiden leads us off for the day and with too much unexposed form happy to steer clear of this race and look for track patterns, assuming on pace is the place to be with the rail but keen to just watch this one.

Race 2: MAIDEN (1350M)

Basically a copy paste from above, similar trip and just not enough form to be betting with any confidence. The Munce team are flying but barrier eleven is very sticky for Sarigan.

Race 3: MAIDEN (1000M)

And again another maiden, Solvent should be winning this though, senior jockey and form on the board, from a nice alley. Hard to know the tempo the others will set but Solvent will be forward in running.

Race 4: MAIDEN (1000M)

Well Agadoo was the one last start who was a horror watch. She does go back in trip which I am not overly fond of but that run showed promise. Anthony Allen retains the ride but from barrier four hoping he can have her two back one out and not fighting for gaps late like last start, that way we can see her unleash that finish.

Race 5: Benchmark 70 (1800M)

This race is really going to heavily depend on pace because I think Riez Souvant will beat home Barcelo but if Zambezi Khan lets it roll along without pressure that last start at Ipswich shoes Barcelo could be strong enough to hold on. There is also Natoya for the Sears team who did start to pick up late, and then Techna who was too bad to be true latest. Siding with Riez Souvant and Ben Thompson but note there are a stack of chances.

Race 6: Benchmark 78 (1200M)

Mean Approach has really strong first up form and showed why winning last start. With the claim he will carry fifty-eight kilograms and from barrier seven with the speed surrounding him he should just get a really nice run about three pairs off the lead. If he improves off that first up run and over the trip which he should, $3.60 is a gift.

Race 7: Handicap (1600M)

I mean surely in this race makes sense to be with Ben Thompson as its aptly named after him so Crusader Voyage for the punting gods looks the likely result. It is worth however having a small ticket on Giapponese coming back from Grafton, who if they can run on will be a very live chance in a much weaker race.

Race 8: Benchmark 70 (1400M)

Well this looks a really nice race for Meldubious. Comes through a nice second behind Golden Cross fresh and then wrong part of the track and lack of room latest didn’t help. Golden Cross franked that form Saturday so at the $4.60 with Ben on and from the Archibald team, looks a really nice bet.

Race 9: Class 1 (1600M)

I thought Hard as Brok was brave latest and again draws a middle alley but over the mile here does look one of the only leaders. After three runs in this preparation he will be rock hard fit and with the claim from Corey and the Vandyke stable in form happy to be with him to close out the card.
