Its a week out from greatest race day that Wednesday racing hosts up here in Queensland and that is MEKKA races. This weak for the lead up we will be racing on a soft 5 track with the rail out nine and a half metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12.33pm.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1650M)
As we have done a fair bit lately the early maiden is just a watch race. Look for the pattern of the track but otherwise this is a no bet race for the mugs today.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1350M)
The same goes again for race two for the three year olds. I think the price on Thompsons runner looks a little unders but just too many unknowns here.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1350M)
Well Moscow Mule has had two pretty luckless runs and if he gets the clear air here then he simply should be winning. Ben will need to probably have him a little closer than normal though with the rail position as making ground may be a little more difficult today.
Race 4: Benchmark 65 (1650M)
It was a slowly run race which really was advantageous to Rosso Levanto but this race looks to have a lack of pace and if he can sit behind Carnegie Hill and Flying Bat then he should get an even cosier run. He will be able to pop off heals and unleash what I think should be an even better turn of foot.
Race 5: Class 3 (2060M)
The key here is does the favourite need the extra trip. Diamond Show got the gaps and looked to run through then peaked on the run. The three seconds are a bit of a worry but with the claim and the pole draw she will be mighty hard to hold out.
Race 6: Class 1 (1200M)
Well yet another favourite comes up here in Zalique and looks again like a nice bet. He won the Big Maiden at Grafton first up after two real nice trial wins. Buckets Moor jumps on with Nash off and while he is not Nash he is serious form after the weekend. He should sit midfield with La Profecia leading them off and I dare say just camps on his hip and lets rip late.
Race 7: Class 1 (1200M)
Going a little rougher here for the combination of Thompson and Gollan with Mythology. Scored a nice win end of preparation last time in holding on just and will be much better for that run. Ran in a trial leading up to this and in a race with a bit of pace Thompson should get a similar trail into the run.
Race 8: Class 3 (1350M)
Going for Waller in the last to round out the day. Flaxlands was very good latest and prior in behind Petite Palace and Grand Crusader is a nice form line. She started to run away and was strong through the line. Gets further weight off here and will be really hard to hold out.
