It is simply a mugs day out today. We are off to Doomben and have two genuine chances early in the day and late in the day. We have soft 5 track with the rail out seven metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 1.05pm.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1640M)
This is a real lack lustre race, over the mile with a lack of form and about four Waller runners happy to stay away from this one early on.
Race 2: Class 1 (2040M)
Our boy Rhodes looks to make it two in a row here and gets back to the 2040M. He draws in the middle of the pack here and on paper there looks to be pace but I think the maps may have this a little wrong. It is really us versus Waller but if Ryan Wiggins can get a cheap lead and pinch some sectionals mid race he may just be able to steal another race here.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)
There is a real lack of nuts in this race. Half the field been gelded leading in and the other half have barely had a run, no thanks.
Race 4: MAIDEN (1200M)
The second favourite here looks to be under the odds with form around it not really standing up. Happy to be with the favourite off some really nice trials and a middle barrier to settle early on in the run. Siding with Real Rush.
Race 5: Benchmark 70 (1350M)
Another impossible race but have sided here with the Toowoomba trained Launch Pad. The horse was fairly poor after its one win last preparation but has been back to the trials and first up over an ideal trip with a bit of tactical speed it is a pretty good roughie in this field.
Race 6: Benchmark 70 (1350M)
Really even race this one. Regal Edition is in best in terms of runs under the belt here and with the in form Angela Jones on from a low draw gets every chance. Loves this track although yet to win here, has a really good record over the trip.
Race 7: Class 5 (1640M)
Another easy race, NOT! The top weight in Tony Be is just one of those horses that is like catching smoke, utterly impossible. He does get in well here with the claim but we have gone the other end of the list in Goldeel. If the form stacks up around her early int the day from a low draw and no weight on the back and fourth up she can be a force. She likes Doomben and the sting out will not hurt.
Race 8: Class 2 (1200M)
Well we have got the in form Cejay on our boy Sir Carter and fingers crossed she gives him every hope of winning here. Barrier 9 is a little sticky but if he jumps like we know he can and fourth up to the 1200M he can show the turn of foot late and come right over the top of them, very winnable race this one.
