Ipswich | July 8

After the group ones were run and one we had a couple of mid-week days at Headquarters and now well we head out to Ipswich. We will be racing on a soft 5 track with drying conditions the last few days and sunshine all day I can see this improving to a good 4. The rail will be out eight metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12.29pm.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1200M)

I thought Savasteel was a bright hope here form the inside draw. With the rail out it will really suit, this bloke the only query is that he has been up a long time so assuming the stable has him right, he can win this leading the whole way.

Race 2: MAIDEN (1200M)

Keen to be with Listen Jani from the Gollan yard here. Peaked on the run late First up from a long spell, will be fitter for that run and gets a track that suits, she can sit just off them and they won’t be able to run her down late around Ipswich.

Race 3: Handicap (800M)

Not keen this race but Fenlon and Munce with Tassy Devil from barrier three looks a really nice combination if you simply have to bet.

Race 4: Benchmark 65 (2000M)

Golden Eyes is obviously the one to beat here but Strangehold was very good at the Gold Coast late and looked like the extra step out in trip would really suit. Ben Osmond, gets on and from barrier four will be able to sit behind Golden Eyes and O’caldino and blouse them in the final 100M.

Race 5: Class 1 (1700M)

It’s the race for Waller here and Riez Souvent is the one we want to be with, there is a weight swing in Kundabungs favour but it won’t be enough to prevent Benny and Chirs saluting here. He basically got the premiership sown up but this will absolutely lock it down.

Race 6: Handicap (1200M)

This is a very small field and while Paleface Ring will lead them off, Moshulu Spirit was strong late, may need the step up in trip but happy to stick with at the shorts here.

Race 7: Benchmark 65 (1200M)

Petite Palace, keeps it simple here should just a classic jump, lead and win and on rating and relative weights looks well in here against a decent field for a little Wednesday Ipswich sprint.

Race 8: Class 4 Plate (1350M)

Last of the day and boy oh boy it’s a mid-week classic. A few of these have been going around against each other but Chico Mojito comes through the listed Gai Waterhouse and was the widest runner there where he went ok but was no match for them. Second up he will improve and is very well in with the in form Thompson on.
