Eagle Farm | July 1

Well the last group one of the season has been run and won and while it means that we can return to Eagle Farm, there are maidens and all sorts. We will be racing on a soft 6 track with drying conditions the last few days and sunshine all day I can see this improving. The rail will be out nine metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12.33pm.

 Race 1: MAIDEN (1300M)

They have backed a first starter here but from barrier three I think Love Rebel for buckets Moor is the play. Was ok first up, then should have one second up maybe just peaked on the run and now gets here third up, longer trip and just looks primed to win.

Race 2: MAIDEN (1600M)

Another really easy race to assess is the mile over the maiden here. Saturdays Girl comes up favourite but I am not entirely sure the conditions suit nor does the trip. Iconify has been in two fairly slowly run races and the latest was the widest runner in the straight on a soft track that did not look to his liking. Draws barrier six here and should be a better track out to the mile I think he is an each-way price.

Race 3: Benchmark 78 (1600M)

Keeping it very simple here, Sosino is absolutely flying and while sting out of the track is always to his advantage I am just trusting jockey and stable here to get it done.

Race 4: MAIDEN (1200M)

No real firm opinion here, Our Huntress with Thompson and Freedman should be winning so leaning that way.

Race 5: Class 3 (1400M)

I don’t think Moonan Quartz beat a whole heap first up but it was a trouncing. With the claim, barrier and lack of genuine speed in this race I feel like he could two or three lengths clear at the 200M and be all over.

Race 6: Class 1 (1200M)

Pretty interesting race, Stein and Siesta should take this up together with any luck. That will allow Teelg to camp just in behind them one out. As long as the tempo is genuine enough and they don’t canter along in front Teelg can pop off heels and knock them off.

Race 7: Benchmark 70 (1000M)

Speedy One has drawn wide here but looks the major pace and has been going well. Japser gets a few kilos off which could really make the difference here and with a record of winning three from seven over this trip he looks a nice bet.

Race 8: Benchmark 68 (1800M)

Very even race to end the day, looking at this one, basing it solely on stable and jockey. Robbie Dolan is a noted jockey over these longer trips and the Munce team are just airborne. Happy to be with Techna here at an each-way price.
