An eight race card has been assembled at Townsville this afternoon and with fine conditions around, we are on a Good 4 with the rail out 7m from the 1000m to the Winning Post and 4m the remainder.
We aren’t mucking around. Best bet straight of the bat. Race 1, Horse 1. Husette has been super in her last couple winning two straight races in style and now comes up against a race with similar credentials. 60kg is a slight concern, but she lobbed 59kg on a soft track last time out to win by 1.5 lengths. She’ll sit in the one-one and be winning again.
Skip the second, skip the third and draw our attention to the fourth.
4YO Dissident gelding Rebel Lake was only beaten right on the line by Tutelage last time out which reads well here. Emily Cass uses her 2kg claim to take him to the front and it’ll be champagne and caviar from there. Jumps, leads, wins.
The fifth is an absolute ripper with plenty of chances. We won’t have a bet, but be sure to watch, last time this similar field went around there was five horses across the line within 2 lengths in a ripping finish - expect the same here.
One horse in NQ that is a budding star is Modernism, so the fact that Limerick Moon ran third to her last start to be beaten 2 lengths reads well in our book. The 9YO is going to go forward in the rununder the 3kg claiming kid, but that should bring him right into this. Massive overs.
The sevent sees a good one go around in The Egyptian. Clinton Taylor’s 4YO was good at the end of 1100m last start to beat Overseas by a length and now aces arguably easier opposition albeit in a Class 3. He’ll go to the front under Butler in a bid to walk like, talk like and win like an Egyptian.
Originally we weren’t going to have a bet in the last race, but when they put up $3 about I Did It Again, we had to play. Bannon’s gelding is airborne winning his last 6 starts, and while he does face Beau Jet here, he should be able to hold him off. The big weight is the only worry.
