Townsville Preview

We head up North today for Mondays meeting for seven races at Townsville where conditions are a Soft 5 with the rail out four metres the entire course. Small fields are the order of the afternoon today but nonetheless, there will be some nice bets to be had. We kick of the day with a two year old maiden. Boomed in the colours of the famous The Harrovian should be leading here and whilst drawn wide will lead uncontested and should be too strong over this short trip.

In the second event, fan favourite of the mugs Ryan Wiggins jumps aboard Bold Eos who has been super this prep and Townsville is her favourite venue. She will be making every post a winner and has a superb front riding jockey to rack them, stack them and pack them; a banker bet for all multiples.

Race three sees a BM65 and yet another seven horse field. There should be enough tempo here with Flash Fox and Moss the Boss who was just out done for early pace latest, if Moss the Boss can get a similar trail and be a pair or two closer he is the overs in this field. Another wide open maiden comes up in the fourth and for that reason will be steering clear of this event.

We come to race five and its stacked with winners; that being Beau Jet, Our Alicia’s Lane and Full Recognition, however I think there might be another that can get the spoils here and that is Sanglier. This bloke has been all over the country but draws well on the inside here to force Oriental Girl to do more work, eats this trip and the soft ground will only allow him to improve. Should get the run of the race.

There is value in the sixth event but the draw is awful. Bold Thalia comes off a ninety-eight day lay off but prior was running against the likes of Garibaldi in town. She will be off the pace, so barrier fifteen may not be as much of a problem, but with the favourite drawn in seven it will need to be a mighty run; play the quinella with Final Warning. In the final event we have sided with Potawatomi off its two recent wins and track and distance record. Will be a great each way bet in the last. He doesn‘t win out of turn, but the favourite gets absolutely no favours here and will be doing all the work to lead early whereas this gelding will be tucked in behind getting a great steer from Bonnie Thomson.
