Toowoomba Cup + Weetwood Handicap Preview

We ditch the white sunnies for the beanies, blazers and hip flasks - It's TBAAAAA TIME

The time honored double has been a happy hunting ground for the likes of Chris Waller the last few years, having taken out the last 2 Tbaaa Cups, this years edition sees Humbolt Current and Alward, wait, it doesn't? Ok well it'll have a different couple that have gone around in BM90's the last 45 weeks

In what's another highlight of the annual SaturdayDAY Toowoomba meet it's the Pat O'Neill Stakes which is the first 2YO race of the season, this years edition features 45 Les Ross horses, which will actually see Les ride one of his horses due to the fact he has more 2YO horses in this race than actual QLD jockeys.

Race 1 kicks off at 12:38 with the rail in the true and scoped a Good 4. That man again C Waller lines up Fortified who'll be looking to get the punters off to a flyer at the shorts, the danger being Youngblood but if you say that out loud it's probably not too much of a danger is it!

Thrill seekers will be relying on the King of QLD TJ Gollan to send Lyrical Girl out to lead, kick, dick and just win. She'll start at 1.10 at this rate. A few key scratchings have really made this hers to lose. Pay us NOW

Race 7 brings us the co-main event in the Toowoomba Cup. Last years winning training saddles up the three runners with He Runs Away being the most favoured in early markets. The interesting runner and your favourite is Champagne Aunty who before last start had put 3 in a row together before going around at the 1300m for $1,875 reasons to have a top up in order for this! She's enigmatic but all the good ones are, could this be the next Tregea superstar?

The Weetwood is always a cracker, packed field, hard luck stories, it's got it all! Des brings Apache Chase to Tba who boasts a win over Australia's most hyped horse in Ayrton, Soxagon is there for the Currie locals and you can't spell Queensland Racing Integrity without eating some Currie, Davey Van Toowoomba rounds it out with Goldmarket winner Desert Lord.

Apache Chase would be stupid not to lead this race with barrier 3 and nothing sitting inside our outside to potentially pester this speed machine. It sets up nicely for last last start winner You Make Me Smile and cult hero Tambo's Mate to box seat. As always tempo will be hot and all the major players should get their shot at Toowoomba glory.
