Sunshine Coast | September 4

Back up the Bruce highway to continue the mid-week racing again while we prepare for the Group ones happening down south. We will be racing on a good 4 track with we have the rail out nine metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12.35pm.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1000M)

Pass.

Race 2: MAIDEN (1200M)

Competitive maiden again here but Sofala did a bit of work early last start and did just peak on the run late. We get the senior jockey in James Orman on now and from a really soft draw she should be able to just camp off Catalan Comet or lead this field up. Third up and peaking in fitness this looks the right bet here.

Race 3: Class 1 (1600M)

Class one here and Sebring Girl while she has been up a long time all her runs have had plenty of merit. Back to the home track here today, drawn perfect in barrier two and with the claim of Cody Collis the $2.90 about her just looks a gift.

Race 4: Class 6 (1000M)

The favourite here Emperor looked like it was off and gone last start at Doomben and then just peaked on the run. The concern here is back to the 1000M but off that effort and from a really low gate I have to be with him again third up. The Matt Dunn yard is simply airborne! Reliable Ruby is a big watch with the super first up record but that trial didn’t scream, I am here to win.

Race 5: MAIDEN (1400M)

Rum Runner here, KWT keep it simple and just jump, lead and win.

Race 6: Class 1 (1400M)

Bucks Fizz was a massive six length winner last start but prior to that that form looks a little shaky at best. Power Ace on the other hand is fourth up today, will lead this field with the claimer in Emily Lang on and did beat home Sir Leonidas last start which won here on Sunday. At the prices Power Ace is the play here.

Race 7: Benchmark 68 (1200M)

The fact that I Am Artie has drawn the outside does give a few of these at least some hope. There will be a bit of pace on but it won’t be break neck speed. Strapparsi draws low and gets Angela Jones on and while her from doesn’t read super she was good up in Queensland last preparation and has returned again here. The big Sunny Coast track should suit and at $17 that is an each-way bet all day.

Race 8: Class 1 (1800M)

Buffet and Betathaneva gapped the rest last start and former copped a bump in the straight and still had the audacity to pick himself up and win. He drops a kilo on that effort and is first go over the 1800M which looked like it would really suit. He has drawn barrier five and should get a better run in transit and that price looks to be well overs here.
