Sunshine Coast | August 28

Back up the Bruce highway to continue the mid-week racing up here in what is now Sunny Queensland after a week where there was hardly a horse racing. We will be racing on a good 4 track with we have the rail out five metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12.33pm.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1000M)

Unraced horse and first starters who’ve already started, who knew! Our boy Hasbulla goes, lets see what he does first up.

Race 2: MAIDEN (1600M)

Free As The Wind did enough first up for the Waller camp and with Michael Rodd on and stepping out to mile for the first time she can gives this a shake. Happy to also have a small play too with On the Veuve who two starts back beat home Mr Tadashi who is a fraction of the price, forgive her last start.

Race 3: Class 1 (1600M)

Surely this time Rich Again can cross the line first. He has been unreal all preparation banking cheques but needs the big one here. The middle alley should assist and is Sammy Collett gets his head down at the right time he can chalk up his second win here. He beat home Beautantes by four lengths two starts ago and that horse has since won, even with the weight he is a bet here.

Race 4: Benchmark 68 (2200M)

Chip Collis airborne and the claim for Spray Gun makes it look like the one to beat here. He will jump and be leading for a long way in this, with the only question mark the slight step out in trip. If he is rated well in front though he is the one to beat.

Race 5: MAIDEN (1200M)

Odds on look on, but if you want to have a flicker Toro Strike from the local Kendrick yard has some decent form around it from four prior starts and that could prove the difference here.

Race 6: Class 3 (1200M)

Well the top two should fight this one out and I am siding with Fortuneer. Her preparation was impeccable first time in and second time just ran into some fairly smart horses. Back after a short spell, on a good track with the in form J Hux on, she should be able to stalk the leaders and fingers crossed the crown of the track is the better ground because that is where she will be flying late.

Race 7: Benchmark 65 (1400M)

Allow Me the obvious here after that nice run last start and draws well to camp off the pace, however if Miliarense gets the breaks in a race where there may be a slight late of tempo I think Sammy can steal this race.

Race 8: Benchmark 65 (1400M)

First up Seneschal goes well, chip booked again to take a few kilos off in a race flush with apprentices. While the draw is a little sticky his pattern should put him in the middle of the pack coming around the turn and I think there will be a bit of pressure up front so he will get his chance in a super open end to the days racing.
