I'd say we survived Magic Millions and we head to Rocky today, but I would be lying. Bloodbath. Here's our chance to win it back on a hot rail at Callaghan Park!
Race 1: Maiden Plate (1500m)
There's no price, but ROY'S ROAD should win by seven lengths on recent form.
Race 2: Class 3 Plate (1200m)
The market has it down to three main hopes (1-2-4) and I tend to agree. There's a couple of knocks on each of those three, so I'm happy to let this one through to the keeper.
Race 3: Open Handicap (1400m)
Again, no real price about for SHAMEDY, but he's another who I think will be too good. He's third-up now, drops 9.5kg from last start at Mackay and gets back to Rocky where he's won four of his six starts. Drawn to get the gun run, the talented 3YO should be too good for this lot with the low weight.
Race 4: BM55 Handicap (1050m)
VALTINO is a better horse than her rivals here, it's just whether the 1050m will be too short for her first-up. I doubt it will be an issue though, given her sharpness in a 900m trial a couple of weeks ago. Last prep, she had some very good form around the likes of Cusack, Media Empire and Hard Reyva. Hux will have her in the box seat and she should be too good.
Race 5: BM65 Handicap (1600m)
I thought the price difference between Top Spy and ACROPHOBIC was too large given the weight pull in Acrophobic's favour. He was well backed to beat Top Spy last start over 1400m, and while he was no match, the market support was there for his first run in CQ. Now up to the mile, second-up and with a weight swing in his favour, I expect him to make it interesting.
Race 6: 3YO Handicap (1100m)
There's 10 runners and about 14 chances here. Leave me out.
