Rockhampton Preview + Best Bets

FINALLY

We're back at Rocky after a month of transferred meets to Yeppoon (or however you spell it), and one thing is for certain: at any track after some 'repair time,'

THIS RAIL WILL BE LIGHTNING.

Race 1: Maiden Handicap (1300 METRES)

Look, you've just got to trust the system here.

No, it's not the Clinton Taylor put-in, take-out job; it's the training masterclass that sees a horse go 1200m first up, back to 1050m second up, out to 1560m third up, and now have Moon Over Matilda ready to peak fourth up. It wasn't bad at Mackay, but it just didn't have the legs to cart up the field against the fitter horses. Back in trip, today has to be the day.

Race 2: Great Northern Handicap (1200 METRES)

Odds-on look on? Not in the Mug's vocabulary!

Shamedy gets in here with 57.5kg! The lightest in a damn long time! It was super tough last start, and Hellish has gone on to do the job again.

Race 3: Three-Year-Old Handicap (1050 METRES)

Greylist was $21 into $4 on debut...

I'm not in the know here, so I'm leaving this one to the keeper.

Race 4: Class 1 Handicap (1050 METRES)

Remember that hot rail prediction? Well, if it's on, we are on with Seisme at an each-way price!

He hasn't won for a little while but does all his best racing here at Rocky. He doesn't see a lip beyond the 1050m, so lucky we're all in here. LAYmentum continues to be that; he's an easy favorite to take on and could be in a very tricky spot from that barrier draw.

Race 5: BM55 Handicap (1600 METRES)

There is speed, and then there is Might Judd speed: JUMP, LEAD, WIN.

He's a horse that is solely one-dimensional. El Senorita is the other class in the field but will get the perfect sit behind the speed if they allow it to. They might decide to battle each other; they are jockeys, remember.

Watch him open up by a couple of lengths on the 1000m straight, and be the longest watch you've ever seen.

Race 6: BM70 Handicap (1400 METRES)

Kathy's Beau was very good last start. #THEY knew that day and backed her off the map, and #THEY have come again today.

I'd say multi into Autumn Glow tomorrow, but I can't even rely on that anymore.

Race 7: BENCHMARK 55 Handicap (1200 METRES)

So, this exact same race happened about a month ago.

Call Me Marilyn stole it in front; Mil Cilento couldn't get there with the big weight, and a rough Defrosted jumped out of the ground to just miss.

Mil Cilento still has a big weight, Call Me Marilyn draws the car park, and Defrosted gets in perfectly with no weight and an ideal draw. If she can produce what she did last start, the 1200m will be ideal. The trip back in distance last start may have been a tactical run to set up for an improved result today.
