Alright, enough of this Group 1 rubbish in Victoria. The real racing is in Queensland now, and what better way to start the week than 5 races at Rocky?! Try saying that with a straight face...

SOFT 5 | RAIL: +5M

Race 1: BM70 (1050M)

The first horse in the racebook is the good thing of the afternoon, and that's OCEAN EMPEROR. Formerly with Jack Bruce in SEQ, the 6YO Gelding should pave his way in Central Queensland over these short sprint trips. He has an imposing first-up record, with two wins and a second from five fresh runs, with that second coming at the hands of Lost And Running early in his career. A recent jump out at Rocky behind speedster Chinny Boom was super, and his work through the line there was terrific. Despite the big weight, he should get complete control of this race and be too slick.

Race 2: BM65 (1500M)

This is a hard pass.

Race 3: MADIEN (1050M)

I'm having something small each way on SWEET CATENA here from the Stephen Rundle barn. While she hasn't threatened in three career starts, her best run was at this track and trip at start two, before failing at Mackay when up in trip. Rundle doesn't train too many winners, but when he does, they're typically long odds when the Blinkers go on, which is what he has done here with this mare. In what is a weak maiden outside of PLAYFUL KISS, I'm happy to have something on her.

Race 4: 0-55 (1050M)

THE GRADUATE showed enough in a recent jump out at Rocky to be with him first-up. The 6yo grey hit the line in that heat with a number of classy gallopers, which leads me to think he's going well enough to fire fresh. With in-form apprentice Liv Kendall in the saddle and taking 3kg off, he gets in with a winner's weight of 56.5kg. Watch for him late.

Race 5: 0-55 (1300M)

There's not a whole lot of confidence, but I thought that PARA PARK CHANCE gets the map favours in behind the leaders. He's by Performer, so he should enjoy a bit of cut in the ground, while his last couple of runs have been building towards a win. He's worth another chance.
