Beautiful racing conditions are in order for seven of the best out of Callaghan Park this afternoon. We're on a Soft 5 and the rail is out 4.5m for the entire.
Race 1: 2YO Maiden (1100m)
Electric Brae has trialled and jumped out as good as anything in this field, and given the horses with race experience have shown zero ability so far, I want to be with the first starters. She will sit off a hot speed and let rip late over the top.
Race 2: Class 2 (1200m)
This is the weekend multi anchor. Doubting Eye should win again.
Race 3: BM60 Handicap (1600m)
She is a model of consistency, Roy's Road, winning back-to-back races this track, before running back-to-back seconds. She will get the gun run just off the speed and will be strong late. She can bounce back.
Race 4: BM65 Handicap (1400m)
Pass.
Race 5: 3YO Maiden (1100m)
The first starters from Clinton Taylor's barn have a stranglehold on this race off some nice trials. Hangin' Around was the standout at the trials I thought, running good time in his latest 900m heat, while he showed superior speed for some zippy horses in a 500m SHORT jump out before that. From the good gate, he'll bounce on the bunny and be hard to gun down.
Race 6: Maiden (1300M)
Horrid bunch this.
Race 7: BM65 Handicap (1050m)
The favourite will take a bit of beating, but if she doesn't repeat what she did at Mackay last start, she might be beatable. The likes of Dragon Snip & Best Song could run cheeky races at double figure odds.
