Seven of the best will be run and won at Callaghan Park this afternoon, so here's the A-Set to go charging into Bean's Bazinga at Doomben tomorrow. The sun is shining, we're on a Good 4 and the rail is out 6m the entire, so look for horses riding the speed.
Race 1 - 2YO Handicap (1100m)
Ah, what a way to start. Four 2YOs do battle. TRACK TALE should stay unbeaten, but she will have to get past SUNNYCOAST who is a speedy conveyance. No bet for us here, but the top two should fight it out.
Race 2 - Open Handicap (1400m)
I took MASTER JAMIE on last start and thankfully got it right, but I think he can turn the tables on MONTENEGRO MAN here today. He meets that horse 2kg better and only has to turn around a 1.8L margin. We can forgive Master Jamie a touch too for his last-start defeat, as he stayed on the fence in the quicksand, which gifted the race to Montenegro Man. The track is playing much better since, so they'll have to bring their A-Game to get past the people's champ.
Race 3 - Open Handicap (1050m)
POET'S GIRL was an impressive winner at the track and trip last start, and she drops 2.5kg for that effort. While the Sunshine Coast visitor SUPERARE looks the one to beat on paper, Tahlia Fenlon can dictate terms from the front in the small field and be the one to gun down. Happy to be with her.
Race 4 - Maiden Handicap (1050m)
Bleh. GLOWSTICKS will win.
Race 5 - Benchmark 65 Handicap (1300m)
Here's hoping the three favourites carve each other up and EYE PEE OH READY gets the last shot at them. The Better Than Ready 3YO had the best last 200m of the meeting at this track and trip two back, before going to Mackay latest to win by a commanding 1.5 lengths. Back to the home deck, staying at the 1300m and getting a race run to suit, he could be too good late.
Race 6 - 3YO Maiden Handicap (1200m)
This is a low, low race, but the favourite in EL OF A SENORITA should just have panels on them. She started very short on debut at Emerald on the back of two trial wins and she just got found out by a horse who had form around Golden Boom. She then came to Rocky over 1050m and recorded the fastest final 200m split of the meeting behind REAL STATEMENT who goes around long odds-on in the last. She should get the job done.
Race 7 - Ratings Band 0-55 Handicap (1100m)
EL OF A SENORITA should frank the REAL STATEMENT form in the race earlier. This is a one-out job in the quaddie,
