Doomben 09/07

BEST BETS

Moz:

Race 8 Roman Aureus "I'm going to happily declare that this 4YOG is back! last start was huge behind Desert Lord who starts your favourite in a Glasshouse at the Sunny Coast, Hasn't missed a place at Doomben, all the favors from the draw, Cassidy sticks, sit and STEER"

Bean:

Race 3 Able Mable $2.20 "Superb draw and will lead them off here, speed should fly across and with Benny Thompson on board as long as the gaps appear late it is a matter of how far."

Lloydy:

Race 7 Axe "Axe comes into a Class 6 on the back of running second in the Eye Liner last time out. The 4YO hasn’t missed a first four finish this campaign, and from the 2 alley he is going to get all the favours again. Wins."

Best Roughie

Moz:

Race 9 Lady Banff "We haven't seen this filly at her best for a very long time but I think the trip up to QLD could reignite that, 2/3 at Doomben, when she was up and about she was running into the likes of Mass Destruction and Gotta Kiss, should sit back and hopefully give us something"

Bean:

Race 9, Better than Best $11 "Picks up weight on key rival Redoute’s Image and while there is plenty of promise about Kingston’s Here up in trip and from the draw could see him get home at a price"

Lloydy:

R8. Roman Aureus "Roman Aureus another who comes through Ipswich Cup day, with this bloke charging late into 2nd behind Desert Lord who is the Glasshouse favourite. Any luck in the straight and he gets close to keeping his unbeaten record at this track and trip in tact."

Lay of the day

Moz:

Race 1 Hinged: "Led for fun at Ipswich only a week ago, the quick backup, the pressure up front, not sure how this rail will play"

Bean:

Race 5 Good Chat $4 "Not very brave but in an open field like this and a first up and track record that has queries happy to be against here, plenty of value elsewhere."

Lloydy:

R4 Indespensable "Doesn’t like winning."

Rockhampton Cup 09/07

Best Bets:

Moz:

Race 9 Avocado Sunset "Resumes here first up after doing nothing wrong last prep, it's only run out of the winners stall was a 3rd on a heavy track behind a horse named Tamilaide who now has a Grafton Guineas trophy to shine up every night!"

Bean:

Race 3 Aleysa’s Dream $1.70 "Second behind Goldsborough which is sharp form for this and is one of the brightest prospects from Rocky racing. Has won 5/9 this track so is an absolute specialist. Odds on but will win by lengths"

Lloydy: Rocky Cup Hail Manhattan "Looks hardest to beat here and is the right horse with the right man for the job. He should get a great run in the first half of the field from barrier eight which will give him every chance in the straight. Last time he was at the mile he won a Listed race."

Best Roughie

Moz:

Race 2 Yarralinda "Small field longest odds? Last prep beat Kashkar home giving a 1KG, today Kashkar is $4.80 Yarralinda is $26?"

Bean:

Race 7 Hail Manhattan $11 "The city class comes to town here and I think has the measure of the Waterhouse and Bott favourite that has lined up. Never missed a place this trip needs the cut out of the ground which fingers crossed he gets here."

Lay of the day

Moz:

Race 4 Corvo "Geeez the Gollan mafia will have my head for this but just can't have him on top, he's becoming one of those horses"

Bean:

Race 2 Attackabeel $2.70 "Has won its two trials leading in but only third run for the filly looks a risk at the price and with a bit more exposed from on a few of the other starts appears unders here"

Sunshine Coast Cup Day 10/07

Best Bets:

Moz:

Race 5 Stockman "Yes it's short but by this stage will probably need the confidence builder, it's formlines are just too far superior to ignore, will relish the big track and handles all conditions"

Bean:

Race 5 Stockman $1.75 "Comes of a listed win in the McKell Cup over 2000M and the step up to the 2400M on the sunny coast circuit will really suit with the long straight to wind up."

Lloydy

Race 3 Totally Charmed "Comes into this off two good trials and is shooting for three straight wins after winning back-to-back races at this track in November. His record speaks for itself; 7:5-0-1 at the track, 4:3-0-1 at the track & distance, 5:3-1-0 when first-up and 2:2-0-0 with Steph Thornton in the saddle! He’ll get back and be flying over the top of a hot speed late. $5+ is a steal!"
