Rail out 3, the sun is shining, and thank goodness we aren’t at Yeppoon again.
Doesn’t look to be a lot of value today, and it looks pretty straightforward on paper, but as the Mugs always say, you wipe your ass with paper.
Let’s get it!
Race 1: BM60 Handicap (1800 METRES)
Gee, I’ll tell you what; Blue Swimmer may just be the best horse Manzelmann has ever trained.
The criteria? It’s won a race!
No reason he can’t do it again here. Forget Home Hill; even the QLD stewards have. Had weight on Patti Waggin last start and was pulling away on the line over the 1800m at Yeppoon. Can’t see much different race shape here.
Race 2: QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate (1100 METRES)
Engage cheat code: Nick Walsh. Enter The Home Team
Strikes at 32% in the last calendar year, nuts.
If you ask our mate Wiggo, I’m sure he didn’t intend to scrub him up into a 4-wide position for the trip last time in at Mackay. Thankfully, he’s got the ride to redeem himself and should sit in the 1-1 behind Well Held, who should lead this pack. Peel out, BANG.
Race 3: Class 6 Plate (1050 METRES)
Think the market is back to front here. Expecting Doubting Eye to start favorite and win in Race 3.
Meets Enabler 4kg better here, and he is just a dead set nonny. Found some bums in the straight halting Momentum; that won’t happen here with J Hux on from barrier 5.
Race 4: Maiden Plate (1560 METRES)
Having a crack at Run Freddie Run here purely because I’m a Mug. He’s a jump, lead and (yet to) win type of horse, but I think he’s got the right form leading into this race.
The favorite, Supeedo Gonzales, has to step up from 1300m to 1560m, and Moon Over Matilda goes from 1200m first up, 1050m second up, and now to 1560m? What the fk, didn’t know Hitotsu had been reincarnated!
Race 5: BM65 Handicap (1560 METRES)
Kefalonia wins here by default. Runs well at Mackay, had a win 2 runs back before a 4th behind Blue Swimmer, who we’re tipping in Race 1. A lot of these haven’t run mediocre, let alone well for a very long time.
Race 6: 0 - 55 Handicap (1300 METRES)
Very, very long tail, and not a nice-looking tail either… pass.
Race 7: Class 3 Plate (1200 METRES)
Enter Nick Walsh again.
Humour Me did it with ease on her Mackay debut last start and looks to be on an upward trajectory. She is suited by the set weights conditions. Sennaprost had his chance last start at the weights but saw more ass than, well, insert your own joke there. Barrier looks tricky for Humour Me, but with her gate speed, she should be able to put herself in a great winning position.
Race 8: 0 - 55 Handicap (1100 METRES)
Market has this split into two, and we’ll be going the short way home with Snazzy Snitzel. It’ll be the tale of two races here. Out Of Sight knows no other way but forward, but he’ll have the work to do to get there. Snazzy Snitzel, from barrier 1, can miss the start by 5 minutes and still plonk into the perfect position. She’ll get the gun run behind the speed and be too fresh late.
