It's QTIS Jewel Qualifier Day at Mackay. the perfect way to bring on the weekend. Perfect racing conditions are in store, with a Good 4 track and the rail in the True position for the entire circumference.
Race 1: BM60 Hcp (1800m)
Rocky form is good form, but unfortunately it doesn't narrow it down, with all eight runners coming out of a Rockhampton run last start. Phoenix Flyer gets a 2kg weight swing on Devil Kick and only needs to turn around a 0.9L margin, which I think he'll be able to do here today.
Race 2: Open Hcp (1560m)
Graeme Green can make it a winning double to start the day. Kotabharu looks the horse in the small field to get the right run, relish the rise in trip and gets the weight advantage over Tiger Legend, who is by far and away the class horse.
Race 3: Maiden Hcp (1560m)
Favourite should win, but too short to be with.
Race 4: Class 3 Plate (1560m)
Ditto. Canny Be Better should be winning this, but can't be taking those odds.
Race 5: QTIS Jewel 3YO Qualifier (1200m)
Good race this. I want to take on Fine Shot at the shorts and have something on Acres Away who is unbeaten here at Mackay and also a Brisbane winner. He gets a big weight advantage over In Evidence from when they met at Doomben six months ago. He's been racing well in the south east, and now returns to Mackay which he loves. He should get the gun run under Bubba Tilley too.
Race 6: BM70 Hcp (1300m)
Aidenabet only found one better seven days ago at Rocky when Dollar Dollar finished over the top of him. He was brave in defeat, putting a bit margin on the third horse. He drops 4kg here, will go forward and should take plenty of running down.
Race 7: 0-55 Hcp (1300m)
No bet.
Race 8: Class 3 Plate (1100m)
No bet.
