Writer: Mugs PuntingMugs Punting

The mugs have travelled from Randwick to midweeks at Ipswich, because at mug HQ we are men of the people. Today we head back out to Bundamba racetrack again for a shortened midweek racing card with seven events to dissect. We will be racing on what will be a soft 5 track (impossible to understand how) with the rail out eight metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 1.48pm.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1350M)

Last preparation I am pretty certain we played Exposition as a bet both runs for the prep. If you are desperate for a bet from barrier two he certainly can be closer and was only three and a half lengths of Miracle of Love back in May first up so he could be worth another throw at the stumps, but its not a great race.

Race 2: MAIDEN (1350M)

Another almost impossible race to be betting into but I have sided with O’polly here. She carried fifty seven kilograms last start and gets in here with absolute air on the back in fifty three kilos. Third up today and from barrier nine she can position up behind them and the extra step out in trip should suit.

Race 3: MAIDEN (1350M)

Well its our third maiden for the afternoon but we are a lot more excited here with the mugs having the first run for our boy Ocean Honour. He was luckless first up last preparation at Hawksbury getting chopped out hard in the straight and has since been offloaded and we have picked up a good one here. Perhaps slightly short of his best trip he can position up from midfield and if he lets down like we know he can then the sting will be on here.

Race 4: Class 3 (1100M)

Well I liked the form out of the hundreds and thousands race and Tribeca Star comes out of that. With a few key scratchings, he only has to take on a field of six. He looks the best horse in this race by a long way and he's going to get a dream run from barrier three under Ben Thompson.

Race 5: 0 – 65 Handicap (1700M)

This race is miles to hard to assess with half the field never running the trip before and then we have the Waller runner coming up from Kembla Grange coming back in trip and up to Ipswich who might just be miles to good. Keen to stay away.

Race 6: Class 1 (1350M)

One of my favourites goes around here in I Am Takingthelot but its her fifth run this preparation excluding the freshen up and perhaps might be just a bit to one paced here today. Hurts So Good however was super in the hundreds and thousands up the Sunshine Coast against our boy Sir Carter whom he beat home. Heartoni has since come out and won and Carts was brave the other day after missing the kick. He comes to this second up with Robbie Dolan on and this is a much weaker race than that, so we are keen to be with him.

Race 7: Benchmark 70 (1200M)

Pack her up early, Mugs. Scratchings have killed this race.
