Ipswich | October 11

Its overcast, and cooler than normal up here in Queensland but the midweeks keep rolling on and today we head back out to Bundamba racetrack again. It is an eight race card and we will be racing on what will be a good 4 track with the rail out six metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 1.18pm.

Race 1: Benchmark 65 (1200M)

There are a stack of last start winners here, pretty hard to line them all and with it $4 or so the field happy to stay away from what looks an ultra competitive race.

Race 2: MAIDEN (1690M)

Well we were Red Defcon on the weekend and he missed in a blanket finish. Off the back of that the run late in the Toowoomba Guineas of Shy Guy look good and slight step out will suit. He will need to be in the lead division but if Jimmy can take closer order he can go a couple better here.

Race 3: Class 1 (1200M)

Keen to be with A lot of Booty here with some Sir Carter form about it. The key here is all the pace in the race is drawn outside him so he should have to do no work early while the others will need to jump well and then come across. He beat home Ready Azz Eva last prep and that horse has since come out and won this prep so he looks a nice bet here.

Race 4: MAIDEN (1200M)

Maiden, Ipswich, pass.

Race 5: Benchmark 68 (2180M)

Well perhaps they have finally got Lately going here. He was good last start at Grafton with a big weight and the third horse Nature Boy came out on Monday and won so the form looks to be stacking up. With the drop back to 57kgs here and the low draw he could prove very hard to catch around the tight turning circuit at Ipswich.

Race 6: Benchmark 65 (800M)

Campai deserves to be favourite here but I thought with record at the trip that Pianist was a slightly better betting proposition. She should be able to sit just off their backs from barrier four and with that super track and distance record could be a setup here.

Race 7: Benchmark 70 (1350M)

Well if Cranky Harry cannot win this time to give it away. Has got Maid to Fit form which is super for this race and draws barrier five, should be winning.

Race 8: Benchmark 65 (1200M)

Pretty keen to be with out trainers here in the Hulberts and My Odette. They get the booking of Ben Thompson and barrier 1 finally shining down upon them. While this horse is yet to have success at Ipswich the distance record is sound she just gets a lot of favours here today.
