Well Stradbroke season has well and truly begun after a huge weekend of racing and now the midweeks have been shifted out to Ipswich. We will be racing on a heavy 8 track with the rail out six metres for entire course and the first race to jump at 12.33pm.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1200M)
We are going to have a crack early here and jump abord Provoker, in the first for the two year olds. Going with a tried and true method of drawn low, early pace over this shorter trip in the first. The key will be if he handles the ground but with a third on a soft track first up, no reason why he cannot go a couple better here.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1200M)
Similar to the previous, we will have a small play on Ready for the Trip who has had three trials leading into this which shows a bit of intent about the stable and this race today.
Race 3: Benchmark 65 (1100M)
Our boy is back in Sir Carter here and comes in a few gates over the short trip here. He gets weight of the back and we expect him to run well. I think the price about Alpha Bravo and the booking of Ryan Maloney makes it the definite overs in a race like this and will get every possible chance from that draw.
Race 4: Open Handicap (1350M)
This is a race in two and the better steer from either Jaden or Ryan will be the one who wins here but siding with the latter in this case. Navy Pilot is looking toward the JJ Atkins and to be any hope in a race like that you would assume he absolutely towels up this field. Also, how often does Mr Maher take one to Ipswich, that would be never.
Race 5: Open Handicap (2180M)
Keen to have a go in this race at the Waller trained Existential Bob. It’s a well known fact that horses with a human name in them just run better, and Bob today will be no different. He come off a nice second followed by a dominant win over the 2100M on a heavy track. That sets up perfectly for a race like this with Maloney steering again.
Race 6: Benchmark 75 (1200M)
Keen to be with the track specialist here in Roll Up who was won three from four over the track and distance and is also six from eight at the track. He will get weight relief from Cobi and excels on rain affected ground.
Race 7: Class 2 (1200M)
The favourite here in Gin A Tonic looks a nice play here with lead up form around Benzou and Boomtown Boss pretty good for a race like this. Stays at the 1200M and with wins on a soft track and an on pace style of racing he should be hard to hold out here third up.
Race 8: Class 1 (1690M)
No bet race to end the day, complete lottery.
