Well the midweeks will be shifting west the next month or so as they let the two main tracks recover for Stradbroke Season. We will be racing on a soft 5-6 track with the rain we copped overnight and have the rail out four metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12.33pm.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1350M)
Queen Jeddah for our trainers the Hulberts here comes up a short price favourite but with the rail out four metres and this being the first race I am happy to take it on with Boomtown Laddie who should lead this field off and be able to control the race in front. If we get a shift in how the track plays then can adjust going forward.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1200M)
Well I have been with Aristocratic Girl almost all preparation but barrier is just no good here so a bit shocked at the short quote. Disparate comes up here for the Freedmans and had four trials leading in to his first run. I thought potentially peaked on the run and the inside lanes did look slightly advantageous. Happy to side with it here.
Race 3: Class 2 (1200M)
I am going to side with the unbeaten colt here from the Dunn yard in Alleze. Has won on both good and soft tracks and will be in that range today. Looks to sit just off the pace and should be about three pairs on the outside in an ideal world. Yes this is a big step up but we get the each-way prices to find out.
Race 4: Benchmark 78 (2170M)
The favourite here looks pretty hard to beat. Rock Ya drops a kilo from last start and that race has looked pretty good since with Chillaxing and Castello Grande both coming out and winning. Keen to be with it and thinks its basically best of the day.
Race 5: Benchmark 70 (1350M)
Saint Aldwyn was a nice winner two back and does get a few favours from the draw however if they cross her and she gets stuck on the fence which can happen and Ipswich that may cause trouble. For that reason I thought Savaii with the class of Ben Thompson and plenty of run under his belt could sit outside leader or lead and just hold on in a face with the trip and conditions to suit.
Race 6: Class 4 (1680M)
Not overly keen to bet into this kind of race however the distance and the barrier draw makes the Dolan and Freedman pairing with Miles of Glory tempting. She carries no weight here and up from Wyong and Gosford midweeks the form should stack up here. If Robbie can get her to hold her spot she will be very hard to hold out here.
Race 7: Benchmark 78 (1100M)
The market has this race a lottery but I thought it was relatively straight forward. Isti Star was in behind Angel Ladder and Daggers two back, the latter has since won. Then carried 55kgs in the listed Mick Dittman, and yes ran second last beaten five lengths but that race is a mile better than this and she draws barrier three, Ben Thompson again, and conditions to suit, bet up!
Race 8: Benchmark 68 (1100M)
Keeping it simple, Manukau was flying home fresh behind All Adore and Balance the books looked all the bar the winner his second run post that race where was beaten home by this horse. The barrier is a bit sticky but Jace is going well and it should just simply win.
