Ipswich | May 1
Ipswich Wednesday again, this is starting to become a real thing with the Winter Carnival well and truly on the horizon. We will be racing on a soft 6 track with the with the rail out nine and a half metres and the first race to jump at 12.28pm.
Race 1: Handicap (800M)
Sticking with Astin Lane here, gets the weight swing on key rival Paleface Ringo whom she beat last start and he has since won but over further. I think the pole draw again and in form Robbie Dolan on suggests the winning formula keeps rolling.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1200M)
Not very keen this race and I think the favourite is massively under the odds at $1.55. While he has been good I just think competitive race from a middle ally is probably not a great recipe so happy to steer clear and save our pennies.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)
Another short priced commodity here in Winning Edition, no thanks.
Race 4: Benchmark 70 (800M)
Pretty simple here just back Flaming Conquest, pole draw, never lost at Ipswich from two attempts and she has form around All That Pizzazz, Rubiquitous and Perfect Mission which is easily good enough to beat this lot. Jump, lead and win!
Race 5: Benchmark 68 (1700M)
Well the fact that Kinetic has come up favourite here suggests what a slugfest this race is. Pass.
Race 6: Class 1 (1700M)
Another of mine, in New Level goes around again here. He was beaten by the very smart Aerial Dancer last start and with favourite Mannerheim drawn in barrier nineteen I am very keen to stick with New Level. Third up this preparation and peaking should be hard to hold out at a nice price.
Race 7: Class 3 (1200M)
Pizarro has been gobbled up by the Gollan yard here and comes to this first up off a trial win. He draws to track the speed and if he gets out late he should be able to unleash that blistering turn of foot that we have seen on a few occasions. While he is a bit of a bridesmaid I think again this field with a sharp first up record he can record a win up here in Queensland.
Race 8: Benchmark 68 (1350M)
Invahir gets a nice weight swing on Center Bounce and yet again the Waller favourite Skyriter has drawn awful. The horse is flying but wide gates at Ipswich are just poison. If Ivahir bounds out of the gates and takes it up I just don’t think they catch him with Cejay’s claim.
