Ipswich July 7 | Best Bets + Preview

A shorter midweek meeting today at Ipswich and we will be racing on a soft 7 track with the rail out six metres for entire course and the first race to jump at 1.08pm.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1690M)

Small field with not a lot of known starters. It may be stolen by Wimoweh or Linas Reel out in front but if they do knock up late then the Waller trained Revellion should be too good third up this preparation.

Race 2: Class 1 (1100M)

Deep Vegas will allow Emily to get one back here on Angela Jones for the premiership.

Race 3: Benchmark 70 (800M)

Well this is a race where you need to be a specialist and Enuff Pills is certainly that. She has had seven attempts and is three from seven over the track and distance. Keen to stick with her here as she will be running along at speed and with two runs prior this prep she will strong late.

Race 4: Benchmark 68 (1100M)

Back in trip may suit this horse and can be handy from the draw, Ally that is. She will be able to stalk the hot tempo and if she can let down a little better than last start then will be pretty hard to hold out on a track where the Munce team are flying.

Race 5: MAIDEN (1350M)

Valencia Roc has been superb in four starts to her career. The step out in trip here even from the wide barrier should be too good with two nice lead in over the 1200M.

Race 6: Class 3 (1690M)

We are about one more start from giving up on Heman and not sure if this is even his right trip but steering clear at those short odds. Tamborine Man looks a nice each way bet here. Comes through the same race as Victory Command and El Pensador and we get much better price.

Race 7: Benchmark 78 (1100M)

Remlaps Angel for Melbourne Cup winning hoop Robbie Dolan is a super bet here. First up she beat home Chakra Boy who has won a couple since. Then she was in behind Kin in the Gai Waterhouse Classic in what was a pretty decent field. Does step back in trip which isn’t ideal but should get the drop on these from the low draw.
