Well, fair to say I don’t think the mugs may ever come down off this high, but if there is one way to do it, its take us out to Ipswich on a steamy Wednesday for the midweek racing. Sir Carter may not be racing there for the fortunes off the weekend but the Hulbert’s are and look a good chance. We find ourselves on a soft 6 track with the rail out seven metres for entire course and the first race to jump at 1.38pm.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1700M)
This maiden does not exactly scream time to bet, so happy to stay out early.
Race 2: 0 - 58 (1990M)
Love and Games for Nat McCall has one here before and was good first up at Lismore. He has drawn low and should be able to sit in the first couple of pairs and be very hard to hold out late in what looks an even race.
Race 3: Benchmark 65 (2190M)
This just looks a race in two between two of the Waller runners that fought it out last time out over a similar trip. With the slightly better I am leaning the way of Aboveforty to turn the tables on Lovey Dovey but have the quinella, looks a safe bet here.
Race 4: MAIDEN (1350M)
Well can our astute trainers do it again, yes they can. Cambridge Bay has basically done everything but win but patience is part of the game and he comes out here to a winnable race with Mark on board. He seems to handle any type of ground and out of Merchant Navy he will have the speed to be winning this late. May the great run continue.
Race 5: Benchmark 65 (1700M)
Well this race, the horses are either first up, or have been up for about five runs or so. Luconi however comes to this third up after an absolutely huge run second up over the 1600M at Gatton. Does unfortunately draw awkwardly again but improving every start like the sting out and Brandon Lerena has been notching up a few winners here at Ipswich.
Race 6: Class 2 (1200M)
Lenny should take this up even from the wide draw which will mean or should mean the pace will be genuine. On that basis keen to be with the Toowoomba visitor in Blueish Hue. He comes through some super hot races early on in his career and then has since just figured it out. Races behind Sheza Alibi and Autumn Boy look great for this quality so can he go on with it after winning last start.
Race 7: Benchmark 65 (1100M)
The old Jimmys have been flying of late and another heads out to Ipswich today, Jimmyinthejungle. Just missed first up at Toowoomba but gets a bit of different race shape here and does not have to deal with the hill either. Barrier seven should give Bella options and while Whispering Rogue comes out to Ipswich after some city runs, the barrier almost cruels its chance.
Race 8: Benchmark 65 (1350M)
Well the last race is wide open and for those who saw vision Saturday all the mugs team needed a Cardiologist but lucky for us we get one here today at Ipswich. He went huge second up off the pace and three wide on the corner and today gets barrier eight out to a more suitable trip where he’s won 2/2 and should be peaking.
