Interesting week in Queensland racing continues and we are off to Ipswich today for the midweek card of racing. We will be racing on a good 4 track with the rail out six metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 1.03pm.
Race 1: MAIDEN (2180M)
Happy to steer clear of the two kilometre gallop here in the first.
Race 2: MAIDEN (800M)
Similar approach again for the dash of unraced two year olds here as well, just impossible to line up the form about these kinds of horses.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)
Keen to take on the odds on commodity here and side with Vesper Lynd who has been doing everything but win of late. From the really low draw Rodd can sit handy to the speed and while give in the track would suit better, she can get the job done here.
Race 4: MAIDEN (1350M)
Liparota was brave last start and gets Cejay on here from a wide draw. There doesn’t look to be a whole lot of tempo in this race and if she get across and he she can be sitting three back one out I think she has the turn of foot to come rolling over the top of this field with fitness on her side.
Race 5: Open Handicap (1100M)
Going with Hardware Lane even though the track conditions probably are not ideal. He is 3/3 this track and trip and excels fresh. From the wide draw he will be handy to the speed and keep burning all the way down the straight.
Race 6: Benchmark 68 (1690M)
Pretty tough race this with loads of speed on paper and if they all go forward it will setup really nicely for something running on. Evocator has always been one of mine but from a middle ally and tempo almost guaranteed can we see that finishing burst and have him blast over the top late.
Race 7: Class 1 (1690M)
The draw is absolutely horrible here for Jungle Prince, but just like the way he building to this trip. He will be running on from the back and has the in form claimer in Jasper Franklin on board. He would be a lot shorter if the draw was kinder.
Race 8: Class 3 (1350M)
Going to back in the Toowoomba form here and Melbourne Cup winning jockey Robbie Dolan with Naughty Words. The low draw will have him a lot closer in the run and he was three wide around the corner at Toowoomba last start and rounded them, which is no mean feat.
Race 9: Benchmark 70 (1200M)
Tough way to end the day but Red Red Wine gets a run here and beat home Mia Sorrento who lead a small field home on the poly the other day. Comes through that win and is peaking third up, lets hope the rail is still hot later in the day.
