The sun in shining in perfect Queensland and with the upgrade continuing at Eagle Farm we once again the Mugs favourite track, a track that needs no introductions, Bundamba Racecourse. We are running on a Good 4 with the rail in the true for the entire course with the first race to jump at 1:00pm AEST.
Race 1: MAIDEN Plate (1200M)
I am prepared to give Licensed and Ready one more crack here. In a field of first starters the 0.2 length loss to Thelwell measures up well here and forgive the last start, should be winning here.
Race 2: MAIDEN Plate (1666M)
I tell you what it is pretty hard to have any faith in Laraina here, just simply is becoming a non-winner. Whodat comes off a few trials late last year into a smart second to Atlantic Eagle last start but is also yet to break its maiden. I am giving Laraina one more chance here, drawn out will shoot forward and with the claim might be just too hard to catch.
Race 3: Maiden Plate (1100M)
The two first starters here are leading the market and hard to judge here on a tough track for beginners traditionally. Just a bit too hard for the mugs here so happy to stay out.
Race 4: Benchmark 65 (2150M)
Well we had Likeabeel last start over the 2500M and he lines up again here but with no rain and down in trip looks a risk and hence the price of $13. Largely the rest of field met last start with Ostermeier coming out on top and with the killer Kilner claiming here and the step out in trip looks hard to beat again happy to be with the favourite here.
Race 5: Class 2 Handicap (1350M)
The leader looks like it will be the roughie of the field and Miliarense for the Wakefield team and I am hoping that a few more try and take up the lead here. If this does happen then I think Petunia could be flying home late. Last prep was a little disappointing but the prep prior was smart and Jimmy Orman on is a gear change that I pretty keen on.
Race 6: Class 2 Handicap (1350M)
It appears a race on two here and the market probably has this just about right. Corvo will go forward and Snazz ‘n’ Charm will get back and be running on. I just think the latter may get a run to suit here. Is getting to the right trip but with all this pace on he may be able to use that turn off foot. Should be able to sit off them and hopefully Corvo is caught up on the rail and in trouble.
Race 7: Seven Class 5 Handicap (1666M)
I was very keen on Jetty in the last race Saturday and for that reason there is no need to jump off here. Had a good surface and form behind Roman Aureus looks good for this. Palladas was a moral beaten on the weekend and Moonan Me has since come out and run well. Gets the claim here and is the best of the day.
Race 8: Benchmark 72 (1200M)
A race of some of our favourites here, and when I say favourites I mean horses we can never catch. I went through the market and while Fall On a Star has come up the short quote I think she can win here. Will lead from the draw, carries a light weight, and is coming through some pretty good form lines towards the end of last year in behind Mix and Lady of Luxury. We don’t like the price but if we need to dig out will be launching.
Race 9: Class 1 Handicap (1100M)
