Fair to say this is an awful excuse for a midweek card of racing in Queensland. With a mere six races on the card we will do well to find a couple of good bets but lets get stuck in. We have soft 5 track with the rail out six and a half metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 2.48pm.
Race 1: Benchmark 68 (1350M)
Playing here because, well why not. Laydownlily has gate one but should jump and if she can hold the rail there is no reason to say she cannot be winning here. The in form Cejay is on board and if she hugs the rail and kicks on the turn will be hard to catch.
Race 2: Class 3 (1690M)
Well the hot pot here has won twice over this trip and yes drawn wider but with early speed and the claim once again keen to play Cejay here and Whiskey Dream. Winners win, and with two really nice results both at Doomben the tight turning Ipswich should be no issue.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1690M)
There are a couple from a similar race at Eagle Farm here and On the Veuve is one of those. She was well back in the run which is slightly concerning backing her here at Ipswich but if Dolan has her closer she seemed to close off really well over the 1400M and the step up in trip is a big tick.
Race 4: Class 5 (1100M)
Well makes me feel ill, but Jemeldi should surely salute here. Last start he was in behind Outweight and Hakkai Maru who won on Sunday and Outweighed has been airborne this preparation. KWT stays on board and from barrier two he can either lead or be on the tales of the leader.
Race 5: MAIDEN (1350M)
This race has an unraced two dollar favourite from the Gollan yard after some smart trials, but in a big field at Ipswich keen to stay away here.
Race 6: Class 1 (1350M)
Just back the favourite here, barrier two and James Orman on after ticking off the maiden last start he can be winning here on To Wish.
