It is another mid week cracker and we have a two-year-old extravaganza out at Royal Ipswich. Big bad Baylee returns and with the fitness spruik from this bloke we are expecting big things. The rain has so far this week stayed away and if it continues, we should be running on a Good 4 come race one, with the rail out 6m for the entire course and the first race to jump at 1:00pm AEST.
Race 1: 2YO MAIDEN (1100M)
Could we be seeing a Magic Millions two-year-old star? Whether we do or not it is a race that we are not overly keen on. Next.
Race 2: 3YO MAIDEN (800M)
Like race one, a similar field for the three-year-olds is stacked with first starters. If you are keen on dabbling then Bean A Bad Girl is the best named horse and is one of our namesakes so could entertain a small bet there.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)
We quickly move onto the third event of the day and find ourselves with another maiden, and while a few of these could be pretty smart, namely the favourite in Ambitious Spirit, with the draws and relative unknowns of a few runners we are giving it a miss.
Race 4: Benchmark 65 (2180M)
We head out over a trip for the fourth and the trusted combination of Maloney and Vandyke team up here with Demurral. He has drawn inside but will need to be handy in the run as you don’t want to be last on the turn at Ipswich. Northern Woods should lead them off and prove hard to catch and while form around Neptune’s Choice is strong, it’s hard to been keen from that draw.
Race 5: Class 1 Plate (1690M)
Giveitallali comes back here after his $81 robbery that occurred last start and we don’t get anywhere near that price this time out. Baylee looks to get a nice ride on the red hot favourite in Flybridge here for Barry Lockwood and from the draw would hope to be handier. I am happy to have a small bet on Giveitallali as was strong to the line last start and will be close in the run.
Race 6: Benchmark 72 (1690M)
We head then over the mile here and I am pretty keen on Alderman. He comes up as favourite but deservedly so with four starts at the trip for three wins. This is his go and in a small field he should be able to lead uncontested or sit just off Jacksprat.
Race 7: Class 2 Handicap (1350M)
In the Class 2 over the 1350M we have the Maloney/Vandyke team taking on a runner from the Matt Dunn yard in Harlequin Field and that’s not forgetting Trench Warfare and Elveena. It is an even field, but Baylee should be able to control this one from out in front. You need to be off the fence early around the corner and on the good surface coming off a last start win over 1200 at Grafton, he will be hard to hold out here.
Race 8: 0-62 Handicap (1350M)
The penultimate race of day treats us to a field of battlers and for that reason we quickly move on to the lock of the day in the last event at the Royal Ipswich.
Race 9: Class 5 Handicap (1100M)
Joy to All bolted in last start this track and wins again here a nice bank builder to finish the day.
