Ipswich | December 4

After a few weeks of good racing in town we head back out to Bundamba race track for todays midweek meeting. With the humidity at about 150% the jockeys won’t have any trouble making weight that is for certain. We get a full eight race card and we will be racing on a soft 5 track with the rail out six metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 1.03pm.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1690M)

Tough race to start the day, not really keen to bet here but for the sake of a tip the form of Waller horses coming up here of late has been sound and from a kind draw Ionaceltic goes on top.

Race 2: MAIDEN (1100M)

Mostly first starters, back the horses from the low draws who can find the rail, happy to stay out.

Race 3: Class 1 (1350M)

Another really hard race over the 1350 this time. Freeman comes to this off a few average runs but improved out of sight last start out wide. From a much better draw he should be able to get really close here and dropping back in weight should really help.

Race 4: Class 1 (1350M)

Well fair to say Sunlord is due and Flywheel can win again but I cannot have it at that price. Liam Birchley however gets the claim of inform apprentice Jmac and Star Act up from down south looks a nice bet at the $4.80. She will sit midfield in the run and if presents late can run right over the top of them.

Race 5: Benchmark 65 (800M)

The time honoured Ipswich 800M dash. One of my favourite races out there and this one has track specialists galore. Hokusai for the Mark Currie team has been poor in two recent runs but freshened and back to the trials sure to help. She draws low and gets Angela Jones on board and from barrier three can lead this field a merry dance. The soft conditions should really enable her to get her toe in.

Race 6: Class 2 (1100M)

Should be pretty straight forward here, Maloney on and Thankyou Henry will steam out from barrier thirteen, jump, lead and win. Big watch for No Name Frank third up in his first preparation but have to go with Saturday form.

Race 7: Restricted 58 Handicap (1690M)

The mile again here and Maple Door with form around horses such as Three Graces looks the right play here. From a middle draw he can be in the first half of the field and with six starts over this track is comfortable with the tight turning track. He won prior to the third at Grafton and can be winning again today.

Race 8: Benchmark 58 (1200M)

Jimmy, please just jump, lead and win on Able Seaman. Do not try and get cute, he should be ridden forward and if he shows that form from two starts ago then he can win here in a pretty ordinary field.
