Ipswich | December 18

Well this should be fun, again its been raining for what feels like a year here in Queensland so fair to say it will be a very wet track at Ipswich today. We get back to an eight race card and we will be racing on a soft 7 track with the rail in the true position for the entire course and the first race to jump at 1.06pm.

Race 1: Open Handicap (1100M)

Pretty impossible race here, couple through that Gold Coast race in the atrocious weather including the favourite, Brazen Sailor. He should bounce of that and clearly handles sting out so that will be no query and the step out in trip should also suit.

Race 2: Class 3 (800M)

Just back Hokusai again, was too good last start and should lead again and be very hard to hold out here, well placed.

Race 3: Class 2 (1666M)

Thought this race lacked a bit of tempo and Venturous from and inside gate can give a really nice sight here. A few of the key competitors have drawn out and will need to do work to get a spot in the run. She was brave last start under the big weight and second up over a similar trip will be much fitter for the run.

Race 4: MAIDEN (1100M)

Autumngirl was a really good run first up in July and then straight to the paddock. She returns here and out over a similar trip from a really useful gate should have her much closer in the run. While she won’t be leading if she sits two pairs of the lead, that will make her close enough to use that late burst of speed she showed first run in.

Race 5: MAIDEN (1350M)

Awful race, just buy a case of golds for Xmas. That’s winning.

Race 6: Benchmark 75 (1100M)

Milton Road has been flying at Ipswich of late but the soft track may halt that record today. Mill Rossa has been going awful of late but gets the services of Bailey Wheeler here and with track conditions to suit he looks massive overs in a race like this.

Race 7: Benchmark 68 (1350M)

Dear oh dear, the fact Poseidon Ruler is the $2.70 favourite here just screams how weak the field is. In saying that his form should see him winning this, but also it is Poseidon Ruler. I am going to take it on here. Casrock has also drawn low and will take up the running here. She loves the sting out of the ground and has never missed a place at Ipswich, track specialist.

Race 8: Class 1 (1350M)

Well got no luck last start, but Star Act hopefully gets that today and if she does she will be winning this. There was a few nice horses in that race last start and second run for the Birchley yard here should see further improvement, she’ll be winning, and fill your Xmas stockings.
