It was a tough week last week with only the Bazinga saluting and if you thought it was going to get easier heading out west to Ipswich, you are sadly mistaken. We will be racing on a Good 4 track with the rail out 6 metres from the 1100 to the Winning Post and out 4 metres the remainder. The first race is set to jump at 12.33pm AEST.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1350M)
The market suggest that Spillify should be winning this and with in form apprentice Angela Jones, it is hard to go against. But, lightly raced horses in a maiden at Ipswich it is probably best just to watch this first one.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1350M)
The second is a rinse and repeat of Race 1. The form of the favourite around Movieitmoveit looks like where you should be landing but at the poison odds of $1.65 it is a pass from us.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1100M)
Our Armistice is stepping out to the 1100 here and it looks a pretty nice bet. The key concern here is how far off them will she be on the corner. She got back on the rail last start and worked home nicely into third, so fourth-up today fitness will be high and she should be able to make a more sustained run and knock them off at the post.
Race 4: Benchmark 65 (1350M)
This race is a case of which Ipswich specialist will come out on top. Dembe will lead them off here and the favourite Red Wave will probably tuck in behind. Millward for the Munce team is another who can go forward and may do so to sit outside the lead. If they all take each other on up front this race could be setup for Carneros from the Waller yard. Complete forgive last start as it just simply needs a good track. He will go back from the draw but with what looks a hot tempo and the rail out this could assist a horse who will be running on late.
Race 5: Benchmark 65 (1350M)
Well we tipped Prasiolite here when Ipswich was cancelled, then we jumped off and she came out and brained them at Doomben so here we are getting back on at the $4.20 and I guess we all know how this goes. It was a commanding three-length victory though last start and sticking to the same trip and Orman jumping aboard from a nice gate we just cannot be against her today.
Race 6: Class 3 (1200M)
This is a super even race here. We have sided with Argyle Pink as the form around Hatchet looks pretty strong for this and if she can cross and sit one-out, one-back by following Magnitudo into the race then it should be hers to lose. She does prefer sting out of the track but she won on a Good 4 three starts back at Doomben, so it shouldn’t be a concern.
Race 7: Class 1 (1100M)
Simply not keen on this race.
Race 8: Class 5 (1100M)
I actually cannot believe this but we are leaning the way of Plutocrat here. Yes she definitely does not win out of turn but two of her four wins have come at Ipswich which is where she does her best racing. The top weight who is favourite draws wide and will need to cross to lead this field, so if Plutocrat can push up inside of it along with others and make Never Paid do some work that should tell late and “the Crat” will steam over the top.
