Gold Coast Preview 12/05/2021

We had hollandaise down the coast on Saturday and we are back down the M1 to the hallowed turf on a soft 6 track with the rail out two metres from the 1400M – 400M with it in the true the remainder. While the fields are not as stacked as the weekend we have pretty nice benchmark 72 later on in the day to get the taste buds tingling for what is to come on Saturday at the Doomben 10,000.

It is repeat of the Bat out of Hell and over the 900M it is all about pace. While Fierce Warrior comes through the listed Dalrello the first up winner Laborious was ultra impressive for Tarrant and he follows up again here. Should lead from the pole and if her toe is as sprightly as she was first up and with any improvement looks a good prospect going forward.

The second event over the 1400M is a not be race here for the mugs but there will be an almighty watch on the Waller runner Volunteer. Back in trip this time and has been running on well its last two starts. Needs to get a closer steer here but is massively under the odds at the current quote.

There appears to be a bit of tempo in the third with Better Ethics from Toowoomba along with Hurricane Max leading them off and this will setup nicely for one in behind them. They were coming off the rail a lot on Saturday and I think looping the field and runs down the outside rail will be common throughout the day. Kiriana comes to this fresh and while she may need the run, the superior form over this trip and under these track conditions make her pretty appealing. Great bet in another smaller field being sent around at the coast.

Reality finally broke through last start after a pretty good showing previously. Drawn in barrier 2 here and should be allowed to roll along out in front and dictate this race at his leisure. The 900M trip is a bonus as he does always give you that heart in the mouth feeling late. Kyle Wilson-Taylor gets the three kilos off and with that claim should make Reality mighty hard to beat here.

Mr TJ Gollan lines up a few in the fifth event and will be taking on the speed of Queen Dazzler and the class of The Lioness in this race. Auron came out odds on last start at Ipswich and was off them on the corner but rattled home to get up by a lip over the 1200M. Extra trip here really suits and with any natural improvement second up is a good bet with Maloney sticking. If he handles the soft track conditions Gollan could have himself yet another classy three year old in his ranks.

The sixth is a classy benchmark 72 over 1100M and the red hot favourite Weona Smartone is odds on here and with the runs on the board and the draw looks mighty hard to hold out here. Will lead early and with a race that on paper lacks a bit of pace will be tough to catch. Dis Da Wun is back for the Sears team and those two look the quinella to the mugs.

The penultimate class two looks just a bit too tough for us and as such will be quickly moving on to the final event of the day. The final race sees another benchmark 72 this time over the 1400M and there will be pace here to with Shijin knowing only one way. Jinx ‘n’ Drinx is the only way to the end the day and if you play this mare each way in the last you’ll be drinking plenty. Comes through the Rock Amore race last start at Ipswich where it beat home East Asia who the mugs have a bit of an opinion of. Will get a nice run from the middle alley and they way she attacked the line last start is really looking for the 1400M.
