Well, well, well! The people wanted MORE from the Mugs, so here we are! There's seven races out at the Gemfields this afternoon at Emerald, and more importantly, there's Rocky Form! The rail is true and the track is a Good 4!
Lloydy's Living Breathing: Race 6 #4 Single Honor $2.30
Nick Walsh & Ashley Butler combine in the sixth with quality 5YO Single Honor in what looks a very winnable Class 3 Plate over the 1200m. The son of Not A Single Doubt won back-to-back races at the end of last prep at Rockhampton & Thangool, before being tipped out for a spell. He won a trial at Rocky in August, before finishing two lengths off the winner in a BM65 at Mackay last month over 1050m. He gets every chance from the good gate.
Next Best: Race 4 #7 Keenzap $3.40
The race favourite and stablemate to Keenzap is last-start Battle Of The Bush winner Art By Concorde, but I'm happy to take him on here over 1000m. Art By Concord typically is better at 1200m and beyond, despite winning at this track and trip first-up in the past. In saying that, he has to concede 6kg to his in-form stablemate, who is chasing four straight wins. Apprentice hoop Dylan Bennett has ridden the 4YO three times for two wins and a second, so he's starting to build a formidable record aboard him. We last saw this horse romping in at Birdsville with 61kg on his back in a Class 3, so although this is tougher and against better opposition, he should relish the 7kg drop in weight. Hard to beat again.
Best Value: Race 1 #10 Mount Margaret $7
After this filly's debut second at Rocky, I didn't think she'd be a maiden much longer, but she's bumped into a couple of handy fields and had a bit go against her. She gets her chance to breakthrough at start seven today though, with only 52kg on her back after Erin Molloy's 2kg claim. First-up this prep she was beaten less than a length by Our Heart Throb, who although finds it hard to win, did have solid Brisbane metropolitan form prior to changing stables. She only just missed at Bowen last start over 1200m with 56.5kg, which should be the right grounding to set her up for this 1100m affair at Emerald with a light weight. She can be handy from the wide draw and hard to hold out.
