Eagle Farm | September 6

Headquarters here we come. It might be a mid-week card but back to the big smoke and the punters will be up and about. It is an eight race card and we will be racing on what will be a good 4 track with the rail out nine and half metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12.33pm.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1849M)

Bid For Fame comes up close to odds on here but over the 1800 last start was very brave and fourth up here from barrier four with Du Plessis on board she will be very hard to beat here.

Race 2: MAIDEN (1000M)

Pretty keen on the Sir Carter form here with Polarising going around. Polarising was unlucky first up and then was wide the trip last start against Sir Carter and came home down the outside. With Jaden on and barrier five she will be closer and third up this preparation will be at peak fitness and has race experience on a few of these.

Race 3: Class 3 (1000M)

The favourite here has had five starts for three wins and two seconds and those two seconds are behind Chinny Boom and All That Pizzazz. If either of those horses were in this field the would be well and truly odds on. Beast Mode has won a trial leading in and flies fresh, he will be winning here.

Race 4: Class 1 (1849M)

This race the favourite will be hard to beat but at that price I cannot possibly entertain it, pass for the mugs here.

Race 5: Benchmark 68 (1849M)

Kokonotsu has drawn the absolute car park here but in a class of race like this he has to go on top. The price does look a little skinny for a horse than can often find one better but he seems to have figured out his craft and with Orman sticking and form on his side he should be able to cross them early and be no more three pairs back the outside to come cruising past them late.

Race 6: Benchmark 68 (1400M)

Another impossible race. Kiplings Journey was really good first up and is clearly fit but barrier sixteen gives no favours. The favourite here in Hang Five flies third up and is finally back at the farm and that is clearly where he does his best work with his only two wins coming at this track. He will be able to settle in the middle of the field and if the splits come he can be too classy here.

Race 7: Benchmark 65 (1200M)

Tough race this, Boom Court the favourite has come off two really ordinary runs with breaks in between so he would be a risk and Orman jumps on an ex-Victorian up here first go for the Gollan team which isn’t the right recipe either. I am sticking with April in Augusta I just think she gets the right run and with the two kilo claim and nice draw she sit in a similar position in the run and explode in the concluding stages, third up and at peak fitness.

Race 8: Class 2 (1500M)

Fair to say it does not get any easier. Going the way of Too Hard Too Refuse here for the in form Forster team. From barrier six and third up this prep he should be able to lead this field and with backmarkers drawn in and other chances drawn very wide he may get his own way for a while and that will go a long way to winning this race.
