Finally we return to headquarters for the midweek madness and we are pumped to be back. With group one racing all over the nation it is maidens and class one handicaps for the lucky people of Queensland. We will be racing on what will be a good 4 track with the rail out ten metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12.43pm.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1800M)
Well I tell you what first race of the card being an 1800M maiden spells concern that is for sure. There is an odds on Waller runner in but we are siding with the in form local Schweida team and United Front. Has had a couple of nice runs this prep and is finally stepping out to a trip he is yet to tackle but looks well suited too. With a one length loss to Shy Guy at Ipswich, the longer trip and bigger straight will really suit this bloke.
Race 2: 0 – 65 (1000M)
Not sure what to make of this race. The favourite goes on top after two smart wins but then got utterly belted in a highway at Rosehill and those races have mixed form to say the least. Goomeri should be winning though.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1000M)
The favourite has Action King form but I am keen to play Tycoon Mistress for the Neasham yard here. Comes to this race with form around Rustic Boom and a prior third behind Heartoni who is going very well. After three really good runs I just think from barrier four with Orman on and natural speed she will prove hard to catch.
Race 4: Benchmark 65 (1400M)
Impossible race this, they could all have a fair bit of ability going forward but at $4 the field happy to steer clear.
Race 5: Class 4 (1400M)
The favourite here in Finsceal just jumps of the page particularly after how well Cottee went again on the weekend. He was in behind Brosnan and Eagles Crag there and Sunset Soiree has since come out and won as well. If that form holds up he should be winning this.
Race 6: Class 1 (1200M)
Another really hard race coming up here. Keen to be with Orient’s Secret for the Matthew Dunn yard. We get barrier seven off two trials and with Martin Harley in the saddle and a bit of tempo in the race he should be able to sit just behind them and fingers crossed the trial fitness holds up.
Race 7: Class 1 (1200M)
The favourite here It’smemario has some ok form lines and gets to this race third up from barrier three. With a second to Shapin Power and then a subsequent third to Heartoni he can be ready primed third up here. He has tactical speed and should settle in the front four in the run and from there will take a power of beating.
Race 8: Benchmark 70 (1800M)
The fact it is a benchmark 70 suggests it is the best race of the day and while it probably is it shows the real lack of quality across this card. Mighty Willie I just cannot have on top in this race, and therefore we go hunting for a bit of value. Siding here with Dhakuri who was really good from back in the field last start at the Sunny Coast. With Hostage of War in this race there should genuine tempo and he gets his chance here.
