Eagle Farm Preview + Best Bets | October 2

Well it is a later start today and an even shorter six race card for this midweek racing back at Headquarters. We will be racing on a good 4 track with we have the rail out nine metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 2.18pm.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1600M)

Not real keen this race, lack of quality but with blinkers first time for Better Draw it would be the way I would play this race.

Race 2: Class 1 (1200M)

Sultry Siren was great last start and yes does carry a few extra kilos here but she beat home Ivy Dextress who has since won well and from the wide draw she can come across with Gospel Girl and sit in behind probably Kelly’s Landing and Pinkus who should take this up. With any improvement she can be winning this at odds.

Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)

Hopefully this time Shaque D’amour handles the corner a little better. He wobbled like a baby giraffe first up at the tight, turning Ipswich track but barrier two second up, out over slightly further and Michael Rodd sticking happy to be with him in an even contest.

Race 4: Benchmark 65 (1000M)

I thought the class of Caribbean King could get him home here. Gets the low draw and can stalk the pace, does drop back in trip which may be a slight query, and does have a poor record at Eagle Farm but in this field gets his chance to atone here.

Race 5: Restricted 65 (1600M)

The Waller army comes to town here and I am siding with the “other” waller runner in this race. While Glebe was passed by Hatasu first up I think the four year old mare with Mallyon on board can turn the tables today. Maps super here and third up with a nice weight swing on the favourite the $9 quote about this runner is how I will be playing the penultimate.

Race 6: Benchmark 68 (1400M)

Third up surely this horse wins today, yes I am talking about Zakiyya again. The draw does look slightly sticky but hope with Maloney he can have her much closer in the run than dead last where she has been recently and the wide open expanses of Eagle Farm should allow her to run right on by this lot.
