Headquarters on a Wednesday, gee whiz feels good to be back at Eagle Farm. An eight race card and probably an absolutely rock hard track with the heat wave we have had this past week. We find ourselves on what will surely be a good 4 track with the rail out eight metres for entire course and the first race to jump at 1.38pm.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1840M)
Fair bit of exposed form for this race but it just looks like a few fairly low animals battling it out for their first victory, happy to steer clear particularly with the short priced favourite heading the market.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1000M)
This race with either be a canter for the short priced Over Spray or is fairly open. I like the form of the one with race experience and for that reason siding here with Snitzstream for Chip and Kendrick. Will be just off them and should be able to let down well second up.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1000M)
Another absolute lottery, mostly unraced three year olds here, market is the best guide but if I had to bet, probably side with Boss Mode, just Maloney and Gollan polish in a race where basically any of them could win.
Race 4: Class 5 (1600M)
Well this race looked easy with Nails Murphy quick back up and go but alas that is not the case. We are looking to be with Naval Seal with the shorty out. Has form around Zaphod who was good at the coast a couple of weeks ago. Yes he does not win out of turn, but surely today it is his turn.
Race 5: Benchmark 65 (1000M)
Looking at an interesting race here over the sprinting trip. Pace drawn out with Super Freeze and then Air We Go drawn in low. I think the Jack Bruce trained Oohlalouvre is the one here, a specialist over this trip and does love Eagle Farm. A bigger track with a genuine tempo should suit her today.
Race 6: Class 4 (1400M)
Pretty simple here, Munce stable, Cejay airborne and finally mares in form so in saying that back Carravilla.
Race 7: Benchmark 65 (1400M)
Poutchek was very good from the back first up from a spell with only one trial under the belt. Cejay keeps the ride and today draws in barrier two so will do very little work early and if she can sit closer over this trip and with a solid second up record, she can be winning here.
Race 8: Class 1 (1840M)
This is all going to depend on the jump. Barrier fourteen for Sexy Time does not look good but if Maloney can hunt him up and control the race from the front visually he looked a strong winner at the Sunshine Coast. That was his first go this trip and I think perhaps will be the better of the two Gollan runners in this staying test.
