Eagle Farm | February 4

Headquarters on a Wednesday, after a monster ten race card on Saturday. The rail is now out eight metres so they will be getting every closer to the outside rail, high fives the kids in attendance. We find ourselves on what will surely be a good 4 track with the dry weather we have been having and the first race to jump at 1.38pm.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1000M)

Maiden with only two having a start, this is what we call a genuine lottery.

Race 2: Class 6 (1000M)

My lord this is a monster field of four. Generally in small horse fields the roughie often surprises but when they are all about $3 well a little more challenging. Going with Amore Veloce for the Heathcote team to finally salute after getting some pretty ordinary draws.

Race 3: MAIDEN (1400M)

Tough race to assess but siding with Machrimore who was in the Spanish Treasure race at the Gold Coast that Crash the Party came out of and while it didn’t win Saturday the form through that race has been solid. Ben Thompson jumps on and third up, with peak fitness she can be winning.

Race 4: MAIDEN (1200M)

Not too about this maiden but going off the trial form David Vandyke brings Justa Night Out to town and while he will probably appreciate a little bit further the two trials should have him tuned up here. He draws low and the speed is mostly outside so with the long straight of Eagle Farm he will get his chance.

Race 5: Benchmark 68 (1800M)

This long distance race each week becomes harder and harder with Declan and Ciaron Maher both running horses fairly regularly, Waller had a mortgage on it for a while there. While the quality of races So Long Farewell has been in looks good Banxi seemed to do it easy for Waller last start, happy to stick with it on a bigger track and over a longer trip.

Race 6: Class 3 (1400M)

It really is a no bet race but Moravia should go in every multiple, comes through the Magic Millions Cup and third up here, just wins, simple as that.

Race 7: Class 1 (1600M)

Another classic Wednesday race this is, with Chief of Staff and Backstage probably being prominent in the run. Swag just gets to sit off them here from what will end up being barrier ten unless they take it up again but unlikely from that draw. Ben Thompson retains the ride and he can win again in a competitive race.

Race 8: Benchmark 65 (1200M)

Well this is one for the SP geniuses out there Stein looks the play and is the way I am leaning for the last race on the card. She brings decent enough form for this race and gets every favour with the claim from Tahlia, the low barrier draw and the in form stable its the three ticks of a soon to be winner. Bet with confidence here in the last.
