Eagle Farm Best Bets + Preview | October 1

Once again spoilt the mid-week event returns to the hallowed turf of Eagle Farm. We are not even in summer yet but the weather is heating up and hopefully so is the racing this fine Wednesday. We find ourselves on a good 4 soft track throughout the day with the rail out eight and a half metres for entire course and the first race to jump at 12.58pm.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1000M)

This race and next few and just going to be follow the money bets with a lot of these first starters, looks like it should be Cardonette or Making News.

Race 2: MAIDEN (1000M)

We have a standard rinse and repeat here over the same trip with more first starters and Crypto Miss looks to have the most pace from the lowest draw so leaning there slightly once again, just follow the money late.

Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)

Not keen to play this race, all trial form and steering clear.

Race 4: Class 5 (1600M)

An interesting class 5 here, I am sticking with Ocean Zar here from the Hoysted team who has been consistent over the last four runs in and last start was in behind Simply Amazing and Free Carry and she sticks to the same trip here, from another low alley gets final chance here.

Race 5: Benchmark 68 (1840M)

Pretty keen to stick with Sunlord here comes through that Cherish the Day from lines and then Evelyn May who is through that same form line so out in trip here, and Maloney picks up the ride once again it is last chance saloon for a race like this.

Race 6: Class 5 (1200M)

Yet another race with about four different chances. This race will either lack significant pace or be on from the outset, it is a two bet strategy here with Surfers Royale’s second up form and ability to lead at a strong tempo suiting and then if its madness from the outset Fragile Love can come over them late from that same form line.

Race 7: Benchmark 65 (1400M)

Carnegie Hill lost the race on protest to Cherish the Day last start and then went back to the trials. He comes back here freshened from a trial and while he hasn’t had success over this trip before he can improve here as that form line has been strong since that steward decision.

Race 8: Class 1 (1200M)

Very keen to play Pocketmoney again here, we were on last start and he was held up at a key stage and then didn’t have room on the inside. Gets the man Justin Huxtable today in a bigger field with pace drawn in he may be able to sit three wide behind the pace.
