We survived the Teddy Bears Picnic race day and we are back to headquarters this Wednesday for a small seven race card. The rail is out nine metres from the three metres it was out on Saturday and that was no real disadvantage with winners coming from all across the track. The first race is to jump at 1.08pm AEST.
Race 1: Class 1 (1000M)
Prince Shalaa here for the in form stable should just be able to sit off Montana Lady and perhaps popping of her back late and coming wider will be a huge advantage. I think they will run the quinella.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1000M)
This race is just impossible. Our Armistice looked a real hope but in behind Landsborough Lad last start is a huge concern on that form line even though the winner Millward looks a good horse. Then we have a few first starters and from the Gollan yard Drammatica looks that stables best hope. I would be siding with Drammatica if I had to bet but I think its best to stay out.
Race 3: Class 4 (1000M)
Well you just have to be with the favourite here, it really is that simple. The form through Fetch’s last start in June is around Tilianm, Putontheredlight and Fearnought which post the weekend is super form for this race, just take the handy race three double up.
Race 4: Benchmark 70 (1845M)
Well there is one thing you love when you are backing horses and that is form second up when they are running second up. This mare Secret Tales steps out in trip after a nice first up run and from the outside will be able to sit right off them in the run and from there will probably be in the best part of the track in the home straight.
Race 5: Class 1 (1600M)
Well we race over the mile here and Waller brings one to town in Podium and has the astute booking of James Orman on board. This bloke just appear to be off in May but the form prior behind a horse like Finepoint and the subsequent second in a trial looks like this is simply a kill job to build confidence. He will go forward from the gate and sit just off Snatch in the run and from there should have the late speed to out pace his rivals in the final couple hundred metres.
Race 6: Benchmark 68 (1500M)
This is a pretty tough race here but happy to side with Vendidit from the pole alley. He does generally run well first up and in behind Field Riri is a nice start this prep. From the gate he should be able to either lead them off or position up one back the fence as they come into the home turn. The good surface and back to Eagle Farm are both good pushes and at the price is a nice bet in a very even race.
Race 7: Benchmark 68 (1200M)
Well in Rocky form we trust and I think Beyond Fate is a nice bet here drawn in with pace all around. He beat home the well fancied Kindling Spirit from the Gollan stable on protest last start and that was the result of a bumping duel half way down the straight. He then straightened up again and quickened nicely to only go down by the barest of margins and hence the protest upheld. Same again here today, sit off them and unleash late to climb over them and that will be aided by the extra trip.
