Eagle Farm | August 16

Well there are few race days that jump off the page like this day. There are Melbourne Cups, Caufield Cups, Cox Plates and of course MEKKA race day. A chance for the youngsters in Brisbane to drink themselves into oblivion and learn what the really meaning of each way is. We are back at headquarters for this midweek meeting and we will be racing on what will be a good 4 track with the rail out nine metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12.33pm.

Race MAIDEN (1000M)

Going out on a limb here with the first starter from the Gollan yard. Orman jumps aboard and with a bit of early money and the combination happy to take a risk and back it in at the shorts, going with General Boom.

Race 2: Class 3 (1600M)

On recent form you have to be with Red Top here even at the short quote. With two losses in behind Knights Choice who looks very classy and a subsequent second to Freedom Rally the form lines up pretty nice for a midweek assault here. Yet to win over the mile is the risk but does run well at Eagle Farm.

Race 3: Class 5 (1400M)

Absolute lottery here but Confessed dropping to the fifty four kilos does peak my interest. She seems to like Eagle Farm with one of her four wins over this track and trip. She is drawn wide but gets back anyway and with the rail out we will need speed on and have her rocketing down the outside.

Race 4: MAIDEN (1400M)

Favourite surely breaks the maiden here, Tigers Roar.

Race 5: Class 2 (1000M)

Not keen at all this race, save your pennies.

Race 6: Maiden (1400M)

This race is pretty open and the market suggests this. Golden Honour has been pretty poor in a few runs however a run three lengths of Anatini and Star Chance peaks our interest. He was an expensive purchase and at $21 here from barrier three with the master in Mark Du Plessis on board I am happy to have a dabble each way in a really open race.

Race 7: Benchmark 65 (1845M)

Well the favourite Kokonotsu was the Bazinga this day last start running second to Blazen Boots and that was his second go over the mile this prep so perhaps the stable is thinking step him out in trip this run in. With Orman sticking and Gollan trialling the step I am keen to have him on top here. Barrier one gives him all the favours to control the race out in front and gives him every chance.

Race 8: Benchmark 68 (1200M)

Complete forgive job for the favourite here and we need to be on this start even with the jump in weight. It is strange but the Orbisyn form has stacked up with Thelwell, Ralphie and Dalavin all going super post that race. Ready for Anything was three wide the trip last start and it told late. The money came that day and from barrier two gets every favourite to go a couple better here.
