Its sunny, its hot and we are fired up as it’s the middle of spring and we are racing at Doomben for more of the midweek magic. It is an nine race card and we will be racing on what will be a good 4 track with the rail out nine and half metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12.33pm.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1050M)
The favourite here will be very hard to beat with Heartoni’s good run and Oberoi Princess’s win. The $1.90 looks a bit short for a maiden runner here but will be hard to hold out.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1050M)
Same again here, just too much unexposed form to make any really clear judgement, happy to stay out.
Race 3: Class 1 (1050M)
Helikedempretty comes this with some nice runs last prep culminating in a one length win at the Sunshine Coast. First up she beat home Maid to Fit who is going pretty well at the moment and first up from a good draw she will leading them or just off the pace.
Race 4: MAIDEN (1200M)
These maidens do not make things easy but I think we have a bit of a false favourite here in Brasco. Its last run it was battling in the straight then picked up again late but at odds on I think we can take it on here. Neara Reward was good first start and then back to the 1000M at the Sunshine Coast with the sting out just clearly did not suit. He gets back on the dry deck today and after a lead in trial win can tick the maiden off the list today.
Race 5: MAIDEN (1200M)
Another impossible race but siding with I am Takingthelot here coming through the Neoclassicism race and beating home Ready Azz Eva who came out and won last Wednesday looks like the form for this race. She is fourth up here and should be peak fitness and will be hard to hold out.
Race 6: Benchmark 70 (1650M)
Very tricky little race here but Orman on and the Schweida stable is flying at the moment. Quadri sat in behind the pace last start and looks like the 1650M trip will really suit. She can pretty much box seat for the trip and peel of their backs late and if she runs it out like I think she will be very hard to beat.
Race 7: Class 2 (2060M)
Just back the favourite here. Won very well last start and fourth up and beat a lot of these last start she can be winning here. Sacred Feeling = Winning Feeling.
Race 8: Class 4 (1200M)
It is fair to say that Saddle Boy is very much becoming Tom Melbourne like with the four last start second placings but the form is just too hard to ignore here. At the quote and with the claim and prior runs behind, April in Augusta, Jayanthi and Reliable Ruby, today has to be his day.
Race 9: Benchmark 65 (1350M)
I am keen on Quadri earlier and that form is around Ammand and while two starts was beaten by Starry Eyes this race just maps very well for him. He drops back to 58 kilos and should be able to tuck in behind Starry Eyes and Greek Star and peel off their backs late to salute here at the short price.
