Well it might be midweek racing but we are treated to the full Tattersalls Classic card which was abandoned on the weekend due to that brutal week of weather we had. We get the full ten race card and we will be racing on a soft 7 track with the rail in the true for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12.08pm.
Race 1: Handicap (1200M)
Pretty tough race to begin with here. The form around Don’tdoubtlady looked good until todays effort from Bolla Bolla Babe who failed at Mackay. While the run of La Bella Boom was eye catching I just thought Cuddles for Kimmy was good when got room late first up, and then unlucky again second up when probably need further as well as gaps in the run. In a small field the $8 about her looks the play.
Race 2: One Metro Win Handicap (1600M)
Nice race here, but the favourite Torabella has to go on top here. Her run second up she gapped a couple of really nice horses and gets in well here with the weight, and drawn low so can control the race from the front with the rail position going to be a big assist you would imagine.
Race 3: Benchmark 70 (1600M)
While I am not a massive fan of out in trip then back in trip as a general recipe Chris Waller seems to be the master of it. Taking on trust that this is the right move here with Naval Seal who was beaten by Kerchak last start who was ultra impressive at the Sunshine Coast. That looks the form for a race like this.
Race 4: Benchmark 78 (2200M)
The weekly “who wants it this week 2200M race” is here again and a field of all the usual suspects. Surely Aldeenaary get the job done today with the claim and the positive draw again. Stick to a similar trip where he has success in the past but this race could be won by any of them to be honest.
Race 5: Class 2 (1200M)
Not keen on this race, Sultry Siren should get the drop on the two leaders in Taltarni Fields and Runwiththetide with Gospel Girl back in the field from a poor alley. Don’t really trust any of these so happy to steer clear.
Race 6: Benchmark 78 (1110M)
I thought Typhoon Taavi finally figure it all out last preparation, yes missed when went to Ipswich for the Eyeliner but prior to that was flying. Comes through two average trials but has a good first up record, loves Doomben and the rail in the true should really suit her front running style.
Race 7: Listed Tattersall’s Recognition Stakes (1350M)
Navyonthehighway has now had that extra time to settle in post the trip to Sydney so she will be mighty hard to hold out. I just thought here from the wide draw she may be slightly exposed and Midnight In Tokyo from a softer draw and strong form as well will get the drop on her. She also loves the sting out and will get it today.
Race 8: Listed Tattersall’s Classic (1200M)
There are two good bets you can have in this race and both are trained by the man himself Tony Gollan. Black on Beauty has a super first up record and with sting out of the track from the low draw she can roll along in front. Then if a few horses take it on as I expect a ticket Saltaire is also a play at a generous $7.50 quote and it will be flying home over this track and trip of that super first up run.
Race 9: Benchmark 78 (1110M)
Pretty open race this even with Busting at a shorter quote. There is value to be had here and Godfather all bar one run has been impressive this preparation. Last start went down by a whisker to Lost His Beans who has been going well, and then prior behind Bubba’s Bay and Headwall. I think that form stands up here and from a softer draw and conditions to suit the $21 about him is well over the odds.
Race 10: Benchmark 78 (1350M)
According to friends of the mugs, Hell form is the best form in Australia so for that reason sticking with Oceans of Energy here today. Comes through that race first up and really appreciates any sting in the surface which by this time in the day I think we will be getting. She is two from three second up and with only 55kgs on the back in a race like this she is a great bet.
