Well the Group 1s are behind us and in the coming weeks not only are we looking forward to Christmas but the upcoming Perth Carnival. We will be racing on what will be a heavy 9 track with the recent rain and the rail out ten metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 1.53pm.
Race 1: MAIDEN (1200M)
Field of Mishani’s, a few unraced youngsters and a heavy deck, this race is a hard pass.
Race 2: Class 1 (1050M)
Chaseton for the Kendrick yard comes to town here and carries the grandstand but finally gets a suitable track. He has gone 0/3 on a good track with his only win a three length one at that coming on a heavy deck down South before he made the move North. From an inside draw and conditions to suit happy to play each way at the $19 quote.
Race 3: MADIEN (1350M)
The favourite here has been less than a length off Lost in Transit which is superb form this race. Our boy Ocean Honour finally gets a track with the sting out and even though he is jumping from a wide draw if he comes across and can be only three or four pairs back he should be able to make his presence known. Sticking with our boy under the track conditions.
Race 4: MAIDEN (1350M)
Utter lottery, just steering clear here, the Waller runner with Orman on SP at $51 last start and is $4.80 here which just shows how impossible this race is.
Race 5: Benchmark 65 (2240M)
There a few of the mugs favourites going around here but Lately goes on top at a very juicy quote. He has been up a while and was poor last start but carried the weight of a nation and gets a little bit of relief with Cejay on. He draws the pole and will be leading this field off and with a perfect record on a heavy deck and three wins from four goes this distance he is a clear top pick here.
Race 6: Benchmark 65 (1660M)
We are going to head outside the favourite here and siding with Binding. She gets here off a trial and a run and another trial and subsequent run only going down marginally last start. She does like to take it up and from the wider draw will need to cross to be in this but with heavy track form and Cejay claiming I think she can be winning this.
Race 7: Benchmark 68 (1110M)
This race has a few classy animals including mugs favourite Maid to Fit, the query there is the heavy deck and poor draw but Orman sticking is a push. The premier stable Tony Gollan has an interesting first up runner here in Island Magic who has the pole draw, the claim from Cejay and has the best wet track form of this lot. If she can control it and fires fresh like she has in the past the five year old mare will be winning this.
