Doomben Best Bets + Preview | November 19

We are back in Brisbane for more of the mid-week magic and fair to say we need to lift after last week. The Group ones are over in Perth on the weekend but forget that lets find a winner locally. We find ourselves on a soft 5 track with the rail out five metres for entire course and the first race to jump at 1.43pm.

Race 1: MAIDEN (1350M)

Not keen this race pretty even field, happy to keep the cue in the rack till later in the day.

Race 2: MAIDEN (1110M)

Wooten Hyde, three starts two very good runs, the last one has beat home to subsequent winners in Wily Jack and Hard as Brok. Should just be winning this from the barrier. Big watch the other fancied runner in Torque to be Sure, can he run straight or will he throw his head around this preparation as well?

Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)

Stick with the favourite here if you a keen for a bet otherwise happy to stay out.

Race 4: Benchmark 65 (2030M)

The favourite while impressive two starts ago then was poor last start. He does seem to be a bit of a non-winner so happy to play around him this race. Keen to stick with the in form Munce stable here and Around the Bouy. He was off them and wide in the race were Wowzino strung them out. That was second up, gets to 2000M here, drawn in the middle and claimer engaged.

Race 5: Benchmark 68 (1110M)

This is a decent little midweek sprint race. Tony G might have picked up a good one here. Acappella Sun has won a decent amount in prizemoney over a thirty eight start career but comes to QLD and with recent form on a soft 7 track behind Raikkonen and King of Rosseau if she is even remotely sound from barrier two the $5 looks like a great bet.

Race 6: Benchmark 65 (1200M)

I like the way Vos Savant closed of last week without winning and for that reason keen to play Miss Funny Honey here for the Kendrick team. Drawn low and will allow her to avoid the speed battle up front which should be genuine. She gets in well at the weights and has been good in her two starts thus far.

Race 7: Class 1 (1350M)

Breezin favourite again, YUCK! I just do not see how she can again be favourite here. I know the form around Ready to Schipp and Now is the Hour looks good, but she doesn’t want to win. Ipswich form here is where we are headed. Spirit of Nurai has simply been beaten by the Ipswich track her last two starts. She sticks to 1350M here, draws low in four, and has weight relief with Cobi Vitler on board.

Race 8: Benchmark 65 (1630M)

Sanctuary Storm is the play here. Buckets Moor is on board and he came back super this preparation first up, he will be fitter for the run, should get a soft track and on paper at least gets the run to suit. If he can sit one off the pace he will be mighty hard to hold out late.
