Doomben | May 28 | Best Bets + Previews

Well Stradbroke season has wound up at Doomben and that means that we can return there for the midweek racing. We will be racing on a soft 5 track with the rail out five metres for entire course and the first race to jump at 12.12pm.

Race 1: 2YO Open Handicap (1200M)

This a nice little race to start the day. The three chances in betting look the main hopes here. We are siding with Royal Chic for the inform Archibald team coming of some nice runs behind Grafterburners and La Bella Boom. The two trials leading in should have the filly primed.

Race 2: MAIDEN (1110M)

Jump, lead and win please Maloney. Make A Call should be getting the job done here.

Race 3: MAIDEN (1200M)

Another heavy favourite in the market here in Abender who did not get clear running last start at the Sunshine Coast and then unleashed late. He gets all the favours here from the draw and with clear air late he can break the maiden today.

Race 4: MAIDEN (1200M)

Not keen to bet here.

Race 5: Class 5 (1200M)

If Hermanita can lead this on her own here then she probably bolts in here but I am taking on chance and backing Heman with Craig Williams on and prior wins over Influential who was airborne at that time. Drawn low and should get the drop of this field if he can stay close enough.

Race 6: Benchmark 68 (1600M)

Craig Williams to go back to back here with Jealous who was ok behind the mudder in Super Duck last start. The mare was backed into almost favourite in that race and from a wider alley and can sit off the pace here, and the outside may be the place to be later in the day and should be too classy.

Race 7: Benchmark 68 (1350M)

I Am A Marvel was very good latest in a quick race at Ipswich and the shorter trip does suit. He steps out here over the 1350M but from barrier 2 gets a lot of help and drawn much better than his main competitors. The query is that he has been up a while but sticking with here.

Race 8: Class 1 (1200M)

We are siding with King Callow here and the Schweida team in Facundo. He was classy winning second up last start and while he doesn’t have the best first up record that was his first prep and if he improves here of a nice trial.
