We head to the Derby on Saturday and are well and truly into the Queensland Winter Carnival but that doesn’t mean the midweek madness stops. We are back to Doomben after the Group 1s have been run there for this midweek card and we will be racing on a soft 5 track with the rail out six and half metres for the entire course and the first race to jump at 12.33pm.
Race MAIDEN (1640M)
Absolute no bet race here first up, just a clear lack of form noting they are all maidens and there is no real push for any, follow the money early if you are playing.
Race 2: MAIDEN (1200M)
Really tough race this, I thought from the Gollan camp Ripper Shank at the odds is worth a play. He was wide last start at Gatton and still battled on well for third there. Gets to this race third up with fitness under the belt and draws to be a lot closer in the run.
Race 3: MAIDEN (1350M)
Hell Approaching was second last start at Ipswich and gave Dark Harmony a gap job in that race. The latter has come up the $3 quote in the second race of the day so purely from an SP profile perspective Hell Approaching looks the overs. She will get back in the which is not ideal but if she ran home at Ipswich she can be doing that here.
Race 4: Benchmark 78 (2040M)
Well we launched Missy Moola last start and she appear to get all the favours out in front only to be run down late in the peace. Key here is the jockey change, pleb off, James Orman on. Drawn in barrier nine of nine but and with pace inside there will be company but does improve rapidly second up and at the price keen to back her again today.

Race 5: Class 4 (1050M)
This race is as open as the market suggests, I think its between Rich Lister, Mr Galazi abnd Muschialli and have sided with Muschialli. He flies first and comes to this off a second place in a trial in which James Orman rode him. He will get back past midfield and be charging home late around the corner.
Race 6: Class 1 (1200M)
A total lack of exposed form here, back half the field before as well and will be staying out.
Race 7: Benchmark 65 (1640M)
This race is another impossible task but Pick Za Beans was pretty good last start from the back of the pack at Ipswich. With even luck here and a more generous draw she can be a lot closer to unleash that turn of foot much more effectively.
Race 8: Benchmark 68 (1350M)
Ring of Steel hasn’t let us down yet so not jumping off here, drawn wide but Jimmy offsets most of that, back again!
